Van to Nong Kai
While in town yesterday I saw 3 or 4 brand new mini vans white in color with Udon to Nong Kai written on the side. They looked like maybe 12-15 passengers. I take it is a new service. Saw them in the vicinity of Centrel. Anyone have any information on them?
No man has a good enough memory to be a succesful liar.

I think that they have been plying their trade for a while MS.
The Udon 'depot' seems to be just right of the main entrance to Central,
There are (from memory) 3 desks set up there where you can buy tickets.
Not sure where they drop off/pick up in Nong Khai but I sort of got the impression that they went towards Sri Chang Mai (etc.) when they got to the river & so 'serviced' the major villages along the Mekong as well.
I think (again very much from memory so please don't quote me) that the price was about 120 baht (not sure if that was return).
The desks there have the regular schedule/timetable & they do start pretty early in the morning but only Thai spoken & written..
I believe that it is also possible to go to Khon Kaen from there as well. However that is on a large VIP bus.
It was painted a violent shade of pink & the colour was referenced in the Falang name on the side - which at the time I had a feeling was mildly amusing, but not enough to stick in my memory...

They also have mini vans to Nong Khai on the inner ring road near the Nong Khai/Tesco Lotus traffic lights in Udon for those interested in the north part of town,Nonsamrong etc.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
