Which should i buy- inverter or non-inverter air conditioner
I went through this 20 odd months ago and my mate in BKK who is an Air Con tech for major plant works etc said go the inverter as its less work on the motor etc, quieter, less blasts of air when the thermostat cuts in etc
Can tell the difference if I sleep in other rooms that don't have an inverter
Pay a little more, but worth it IMO

Wouldn't how often you propose to use the AC come into the decision making (process)?
Surely, if you propose to use it (in your bedroom) for 1 hour each night when you go to bed, a non-inverter model would suffice. However, if the AC is in an office or living room and will be on most of the day, paying extra for an inverter model would seem sensible.

An inverter will cost about 30% more than a non-inverter modern style AC and about 60% more than some of the old ceiling tanks still available in town.
Having had inverters now for a few years, my advice:
- if you're in a village where the power dips, an inverter is probably better.
- if you plan to use the AC quite often, you'll get your money back from an inverter over a year or two of frequent use.....lower bills.
- whatever you do, I'd advise going 'cheap' and buying one of the old tank-style ceiling units.....they're loud, they suck electricity, and they don't dehumidify as well as newer models.

Definitely Inverter .....

Would this apply to refrigerators as well? I imagine so, as they are on 100% of the time.
I ask because we were just at PowerBuy and they were pushing the Inverter as a worthwhile feature.

Yep, the Inverter System is Designed as more efficient and cost saving ....

well , we have had the mitsu heavy duty with inverter in our previous house , and now in our new home the standard ones , because from what i have learned is that the inverter system is a lot more expensive as the standard ones , and the energy you are saving ? does not add up to the extra cost ...(not even over the years), not to forget , if they break down it will also cost more to fix them ,but inverter is good for the eskimo's among us , because they are also able to blow warm air when you have problems with the lower temp in december-jan ..
and the only way knowing your inverter is way cheaper than normal ones is to actually check your meter and look at the difference ( like i checked ) and not believing the salesman word...my opinion a waste of money ...
