Shoe repair
Didn't find any thread so here is my question:
Any possibility to have shoes (boots) repaired in Udon?
I got military boots that need the inner and outer shoe glued together again. I tried with 2-component glue but it failed, I guess need a press to hold it together for some time.
Any help appreciated =D>

I've had shoes repaired at "Dtia" (Shorty's) shoe repair shop.. It is off PrajakSilapakon Street just south of the Chinese Temple/Rescue compound.. He's got 3-4 apprentices working for him, is around 4 foot 9, at least 75 years old and speaks broken English.. He can repair shoes, boots, tennis shoes, handbags, belts, anything leather... Quite reasonable prices... here's the Google Map.. Just remember At the Clock Circle, head up Prajak Silapakon, past the back entrance to Landmark Mall.. Next right is the road and he's perhaps 30 meters up the road on the right...

FrazeeDK, can this guy do half-soles and heels? I used to use the small shoe repair in Central Plaza in the basement 1/2 level up from the entrance to TOPS Market, but they shut down. They did a great job with a hard rubber half-sole and heel for my leather dress shoes from the States. I'm looking for a comparable service in Udon. Any ideas!FrazeeDK wrote:I've had shoes repaired at "Dtia" (Shorty's) shoe repair shop.. It is off PrajakSilapakon Street just south of the Chinese Temple/Rescue compound.. Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

From the clock circle heading toward Tungsrimeuang, turn right at the first light, onto Surakan Rd (ถนนสุรการ). Probably less than 50m in, there's a shoe repair shop that looks like it's been there for 100 years. Well, it's been there at least 45, and the owner made many a pair for GIs back in the late 60's/early 70's. He speaks English.....and he repairs suitcases as well. I brought in a well beat up carpetbagger suitcase for him last year.....new wraparound zipper and fixed a few tears.....cheap and a nice guy to chat with as well. Owner’s name is Tom.

Parrot, I believe that is "Dtia" (shorty)... I don't know Shorty's complete list of services but I'm pretty sure he could handle anything having to do with shoes or leather.. I wouldn't be surprised if he can actually make shoes..

He's one of a very few craftsmen from the GI days.....still earning his keep. Yes, he can make shoes....repair them as well.

he joe,
you do not even have to come to udon to fix ...
on the road to udon , past nonghan /nongbo , i think almost opposite the udon flower shop there is a side street whom has a shoe factory ,they can maybe also fix it ...there is a big advertising plate on the main road ,it is located about 100m in the left side of the street ....long time not been there ...so look at the advertising plate ...
also before next to the nonghan morning market was a shoe repair guy , 5m next to 7/11,side street...

Ok, thanks guys, great info. I might try to find the guy who woked GI stuff, as my boots are military boots...
Kopkei, good tips to search a bit closer to home, I remember the Nonghan shop close to 7/11, see if it's still there. Always good to know, leather needs specialists to repair.
