from BBC ........

Former winners Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield United will meet in the second round of the FA Cup.

The League One rivals - who have both won the cup four times - will meet at Bolton's Macron Stadium when round-two ties take place from 2-4 December.

Ninth-tier Westfields, the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, will host Bury or AFC Wimbledon if they overcome Curzon Ashton in a replay.

National League side Macclesfield play Oxford United of League One.

Teams winning second-round ties earn £27,000 in prize money and the potential for a lucrative draw when Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition in round three.

Draw in full:

Westfields or Curzon Ashton v Bury or AFC Wimbledon

Chesterfield v Wycombe

Millwall v Braintree Town

Macclesfield v Oxford United

Bolton v Sheffield United

Blackpool v Gillingham or Brackley Town

Whitehawk or Stourbridge v Northampton

Boreham Wood or Notts County v Peterborough

Cambridge United or Dover v Coventry or Morecambe

Port Vale v Hartlepool

Bristol Rovers or Crawley v Barrow or Taunton

Woking v Accrington Stanley

Lincoln City v Oldham

Luton v Yeovil or Solihull Moors

Sutton United v Cheltenham or Crewe

Eastleigh or Swindon v Halifax or Dagenham and Redbridge

Shrewsbury v Southport or Fleetwood

Charlton v MK Dons

Plymouth v Newport or Alfreton

Carlisle v Maidstone United or Rochdale

Before any Toon fans start to think they have a chance of winning at St Andrews, history shows that Newcastle have not won an AWAY FA Cup tie since 2005/6 (in those heady days when Cheltenham Town got to the 4th round)

2015/16 3rd Watford lost 0-1
2014/15 3rd Leicester City lost 0-1
2012/13 3rd Brighton and Hove Albion lost 0-2
2011/12 4th Brighton and Hove Albion lost 0-1
2010/11 3rd Stevenage lost 1-3
2009/10 3rd Plymouth Argyle drew 0-0
2009/10 4th West Bromwich Albion lost 2-4
2008/09 3rd Hull City drew 0-0
2007/08 3rd Stoke City drew 0-0
2007/08 4th Arsenal lost 0-3
2006/07 3rd Birmingham City drew 2-2
2005/06 6th Chelsea lost 0-1
2005/06 4th Cheltenham Town won 2-0

West Ham United 0-5 Manchester City
The Hammers held out until the half hour mark. They went behind then to a debatable penalty & the wheels rather came off as they conceded 2 more before half time.
In truth the home side just never put the visitors under any sort of pressure at all & paid the price for it..

FULL-TIME
Man Utd 4-0 Reading
Just all too easy for United.
Surprisingly, given Spam's playing reputation, the visitors defended like dummies all game.
They didn't even turn up early on & by the time they started to play (after about 20 minutes) they were already 2 down. Amazingly Reading ended up edging the possession by 55 to 45 but united looked like scoring just about every time they had the ball & edged out the shots at the target by 27 to 5.
United really won't get many easier games than this.
Considering United made 9 changes to their last league game the high flying Championship side Reading might have had a glimpse of what they might require if they manage promotion!!!

So, what's the difference between Everton, Bournemouth, WBA and a box of Tetley Tea bags? The tea bags stay in the cup longer. boom boom. 

Great wins by Millwall,Wolves and Derby but I give the performance of the day to Lincoln City of the Conference who led twice at Portman Road before settling for a draw at Championship side,Ipswich Town, who are 3 divisions above them =D>

Cant understand the likes of West Brom and Stoke. The FA Cup represents their only realistic chance of a trophy or at least a trip to Wembley.....or maybe I should be giving more credit to Derby and Wolves ? :-k

I think that the 3rd. round is a bit early for mid-table Premiership sides to worry overmuch about winning the competition. I think that is why there are usually 'shocks' at this & the 4th. round.
By the time the 5th. round comes around & if you have a favourable draw then it can look a far better proposition, especially if you are in little danger of the dreaded drop... :D

True, but the likes of West Brom,Stoke,Bournemouth and Everton aren't going to be relegated and its unlikely any of them will qualify for Europe.......for them now the season is effectively over and, other than Bournemouth possibly, the fans wont be impressed.
You can understand the likes of Sunderland,Crystal Palace,Watford and Burnley not caring too much but none of them went out.
Today some potential banana skins for Chelsea,Liverpool,The Spuds and Middlesbrough but I think the big 3 should progress comfortably.Middlesbrough, however, may be on the receiving end of an upset !

I realised the Toffees were heading for a quick exit when Paul Merson tipped them to go all the way on Gillette Soccer Saturday, at least Pinochio Thomson had a smile on his dial!

It would seem that the Premiership fans are not too keen on the 3rd. round, let alone their managers.. :D Just a great deal of live football available to view & it is not exactly a cheap day out if you are a family..
A number of games featuring Premier League sides had low attendances as the top-tier clubs entered the competition.

A crowd of 6,608 watched Hull City versus Swansea at the KCOM Stadium, with 210 supporters making the trip from Wales.

At Norwich, who average 26,000 in the Championship, just over 12,000 watched the draw with Premier League side Southampton.

And Sunderland, usually watched by more than 40,000 fans at the Stadium of Light, drew a crowd of just 17,632 for the 0-0 draw against Burnley.

In the early game Cardiff went ahead very much against the run of play. Fulham looked very much the better footballing side though & that eventually told.
Klopp started with the youngest Pool lineup EVER (average age 21 years and 296 days). It rather backfired though & they now have to replay. They will probably win that fairly comfortably, but that is not the point!!
Chelsea, Middlesbrough & Spurs all show Pool how it should be done at home against lower league opposition & run out easy winners..
