Techland,
I believe the problems lie mainly in the transmission (phone) lines that are being used in Thailand. Voice grade lines are not very good, if any good at all, for the transfer of high-speed computer data. When I left IBM in 1977, pre PC years,
we did have telecommunications equipment and soon discovered that Maw Bell had to do a lot of up-grading phone lines as modem speeds began to get faster.
They were constantly doing this and with the advent of fiber optics this progressed to unbelievable speeds. I am also aware that even with that, traffic slows things down some. This is when you either replace antiquated equipment or add more to satisfy your customer base. I realize this is probably another 30 years away for TOT...mai pen rai. I guess after three years here, I should be used to this.
