Traffic Accident near Big C

Postby EssexGaz » July 5, 2010, 2:25 pm

I was taking the kids to school this morning about 7.40 and had to turn left at Big to travel down to st marys school

As I got near to the underneath of the flyover I saw one of those bog lorries with a trailer with some poor person stuck under the wheels

No police where there and everyone was just staring

Needless to say, he must have been dead, unless he can benchpress a 30 tonne truck!

On the way back, the police had arrived and everyone who saw it still drove like maniacs past it

At least someone had covered the body over by then

Yes he was a friend of a friend and did die. Such a needless loss of life. My condolences to the family. I don't know how much education it would take for Thai drivers to realize they are in charge of lethal weapons. R.I.P

The victim of the accident was the brother of a very good friend of my wife and myself who is living in Germany. She rang us today to report that her brother has just died in that accident. As Lepidoptra just mentioned: a needless loss of life and very sad for our friend and her family. I really feel with them!

This intersection is notorious for trucks and vehicles to run the RED lights up to 5 seconds after they have turned.

This intersection needs to have a red light camera ASAP.

Probably 1 serious or fatal accident there every month. Seen heaps, as i live just up the ring road and use it every day .

As a nearby resident, I traverse that intersection several times a day, and I agree with you. While traffic comes from all directions, the area is most dangerous because of the traffic violations of isolated recklessness. Most people seem to be very cautious and defensive in that vicinity.

I was in the area at around the same time having dropped our son off at Prajak Sillapakhorn school on the left of the ring road beforehand.
I drove down to the lights near Big C but u-turn back onto the ring road heading back towards Index.
I did notice the traffic turning right to go past Big C was very very slow.

But last Thursday at about 7.30pm myself and the wife were heading into Udon.We were on the Nong Khai road and went through the Tesco lights heading towards Udon. There is an apartment block Wan Pen Place on the right and further down on the left, the Mazda garage.
As we approached Wan Pen Place we could see plenty of flashing blue and red lights. There were about a dozen police and emergency vehicles and a large crowd on either side of the road. The traffic slowed to a trickle and as we edged forward I saw a small pair of feet sticking out of a small white blanket covering a body.....I shuddered inwardly.
My wife said she saw a second small white blanket but I only noticed the one.
Sadly it looks as though at least one small child lost their life that night.

Sorry to hear of the loss. Just a reminder here just because the light turns green for you, doesn't mean it' safe to enter the intersection. I don't know if that is what happened or not.

RIP
