Traffic Congestion in Udon

Postby trubrit » November 2, 2010, 8:24 am

Just a heads up . Tomorrow, Wednesday 3rd Nov. The Royal Prince and his family are due in Udon to present colours to the Boy Scouts at Tungsi Muang. This is sure to lead to delays all around the area .

Thanks for the heads up TB , i already knew RP was in town thamorra as he telephoned in advance and ordered a CC bacon butty !! only kidding !!

The traffic stituation is already quite caotic at the mo with the central part of town gridlocked most days due to the new shopping center construction ( less and less parking places available by the day) also there seems to be big holes being dug all over the town with lots of people standing looking into them , for weeks now probs up from Nong Sim Lake past Weewan Meg pub traffic lights as far as the market junction - i look forward to the day when the holes are filled in as thats the way i take my son to school every morning and its a pain in the proverbial bottom.

Jingjai . Even if what I saw today was an elaborate decoy plan, and I doubt it . Judging by the number of police cars, even if he did arrive via the airport you would certainly be safe, delayed, angry and frustrated, possibly, but safe, most certainly .

Since all I need from Immigration is an address verification letter for renewal of my 5 year drivers license, and since I don't need to renew for two weeks... Think I'll give Immigration a miss today, better to be safe than sorry. :D

I thought about that statement TB.
I lived in Hawaii for 22 years, we had many different Presidential visits as well as visits by other heads of state and dignitaries, also Prince Charles & Princess Diana, paid a visit.
Before all of these visits, the newspapers and television stations would announce the arrival times, and motorcade routes.
So, if a person wanted to catch a glimpse of someone, they could wait on the side of the road and watch. However, more importantly, IMO, was that if one didn't want to get caught up in some major traffic SNAFU, one knew in advance which streets and roads to avoid and when to avoid them. :D

Sorry Marc. English humour. You have to read both parts of my reply in unison. I didn't dare put a  . Don't fancy a stay at the Hilton . :-" But I will say it would be very difficult to even catch a glimpse here , the speed they flashed past . :-"
