Transportation To/From Airport

A few years back, I caught a minivan from the airport into town. Is this service still available? If so, do they also provide rides back to the airport?

The service still runs from the airport into town. I don't think it has ever run the other way. The classier Hotels do provide their own service (both ways) though I think many of them charge now. It really used to be tuk tuk only to get to the airport, but the new meter taxis mean it can be done in a little more style & less windblown now...

Thanks Bob. How long have the meter taxis been around? Are they plentiful throughout the day? I'd much rather take a metered taxi and pay a fair amount rather than hassle with ridiculous quotes from the tuk tuk drivers.

They have been around for just over a year. You need to pre-phone them, they cannot just be hailed in the street.
The number for them is 042-323-239 I believe.

yup the airport security guard standing right outside the arrival lounge as you come out will get you a minivan 80baht.
