I have to agree with FB it does look like the architect was Ronald himself. It really does resemble what I would imagine a McDonald's theme park to look like.

Just a note. They have started to make the road down from AEK to the station a two lane highway. Its utter chaos and mud everywhere.A place to avoid if possible.
Ageing is a privilige denied to many .

also noticed the parking lot, maybe vendors only at tent city, as 'FULL', and blocked off, though spots open. was given the 'full' excuse when we asked, saw at least 4 spot while driving by and looking for new entrance, u-turn and parked over by train station, not where i like to leave car. so may avoid it completely till done, as out of town a bit, hopefully end of oct they will have things squared away, as i prefer it over preecha market.

I mistakenly drove down this area a few nights ago, it took me the best part of 20 minutes to get from where Fuzzy Ken's is to Aek Udon on Phosi road. The crossroads near the night market was a complete mess as the traffic lights weren't working as usual, and the traffic leading up to phosi road had come to a complete standstill.

Thanks for the heads up guys. It is appreciated.

Lee...perhaps you could make a Traffic Snafu thread and also make it a sticky? Whenever anyone encounters road work, etc. They could report in the thread.

As far as this being finished by end of October... Well if I was a betting man.

Anyone have any updates on the road construction?

The original road is back to normal. The aditional space, not sure if its going to be a public highway or part of UD has had drainage installed and has been levelled for further developement . Although the traffic flow is normal this has led to a shortage of parking at UD .

That is a fair summary TB.
I am not sure what the 'plan' is about roads & parking at that end of the project.
I assumed that the land near the current road would be for parking (as it is at tent city) & that a road would run between that parking & the buildings for access. They appear to be building THAT road now - whether it has an exit/entrance on Phosi Road I have no idea.
If we get a serious downpour I imagine this complete area (including the road) will be a nightmare again. As it is reasonably dry there at the minute it is not too bad...

Looking at the proposed parking area, i imagine it being for 2 lines of angled parking ,

/ for 1 side and \ for the other side,

Still going to make it tight and as we all know reversing is the biggest cause of small accidents

Maybe they will employ blokes with whistles.

Just been on the site today and got to talk with a surveyor so in a better position to say whats going on now .
The road from the lights at AEK down to the station lights is going to be dual carriageway. It is then carrying across the lights towards the old Paolo hospital and the school . So all those market stalls on the right are coming down to make way for it . Don't know where it goes after that, new sheet of paper. TIT .There is going to be an entrance to UD from Posri road, near the level Xing. A few photos to illustrate .

Now back to the new shops .There are at least 250 shop units on there, so someone has great faith in Udons potential. The roads are wide with plenty of parking bays around. The whole layout is a kind of garden city with fountains and lots of trees . The whole impression is one of spaciousness as you will see from the photos .

Thanks for posting Trubit.
It looks good, and love the bold colours of the units.
The Robinsons Mall /Complex looks very tired now and worn out, the owners will have to up their stakes to compete with UD Town and the Downtown Mall due to open next year. I just wonder a little, if the customer base is there to make these new flash malls pay their way.

I thought of Sioux City in Gran Canaria, where they made a few spaghetti westerns.

I went there in the late 1980's it was a great day out, a stampede of cattle through the town, gunfights, and girls wearing frilly knickers doing the can-can in the saloon.
