Great roll up today of 11 players at Sri Thani with incredible results.
David Exley following his World Record Low Wing 23 effort of 3 points on the front 9 last Wednesday totally burgled the field today with 43 points to win the day.
Chuck McCormick with a 25 point back 9 pipped Tony Jones on count back as they both had 42 points.
Three players with 40 plus games !!!!!!!!!!
Peter Hellery and William Chang a new guest won the Closest to the pin prizes.
I have decided there will be mandatory drug testing done next week before and after the round lol.

I played in a group of five (I know too many but nobody playing behind us) on the same day as the Udon Golf Society at Sri Thani on 05/02/2012. Playing in front of us were two Germans - I sincerely hope they are not members of the UGS as when we caught up with them on the second round at the Par three third, I have never in my life been confronted by such ignorant b******s on a Golf course. One very large and fat and the other tall and thin. Just mentioning it as if they are members you would do well to cast them off. Never had any problems with the society members.

Socksy I assure you the two players you describe were not members of our Udon Golf Group.Our members are all aware of the need to maintain course etiquette at all times or else face the consequences. Sorry to hear your round was disrupted.

Glad to hear that Udon Golf. Yes it was disrupted but that won't deter us playing there or anywhere else on the same day as Udon Society. Thank you for your reply.

Udon Golf guys teed off at Dancoon this morning as a result of Ubolrat Dam Course being closed today.
Course was in excellent condition even though the greens were much more difficult than our Udon local courses.
Graham Firth Won the day with 38 points with Terry Aston 36 in second and John Ward third with 32 points. Closest to the pin on par 3 holes Graham Firth and John Ward were the winners.
Many of our group are off to Pattaya next week for 2 days of golf but a few will be back next Friday for hopefully a round at Ubolrat.

Udon Golf Society Round Results 18th Feb 2014
Great turn up today at Srithani Forest Golf Course for another Society round.
Temperature to commence was ok but it did get up to around 36 degrees at the end of the round.
The fairways and rough have been greatly improved but the Putting greens were slow and inconsistent. Difficult for those who played in Pattaya last week to adjust quickly to them as they were so much slower.
However,that did not stop Peter Hellery recording 41 points to easily win the days comp. Finally his game has come around and his handicap getting to a personal acceptable level.
Graham Firth had another consistent round to record 37 points to finish second with Roy Pimblett in 3rd with 35 points.
Roy also won the only Closest to the Pin prize for the day as a result of not one of our group getting on the green on the 17th par 3 hole.

Ubolrat Results today 21 Feb 2014

A few of us could not turn up today, injuries and old age factors unfortunately played a part in that.

Anyway good to see 9 roll up even though we had about 5 of our regulars out.

Round was played "as the ball lay" which according to a couple perhaps should have been Preferred Lies. Ubolrat is a great course but occasionally there is to much water on the course.

Johnny Mac brought his A game and with a 35 point round won the day. Tony " Lucky" Jones with another consistent round came Second with 34 points while Scotty Taylor back from OZ finished 3rd with 30 points.

Closest to the Pin winners were John Ward and Peter Hellery.

Udon Thani Golf Society 25th Feb 2014
14 members teed off this morning at Srithani Golf Forest in perfect weather with the course in tip top condition. They are making a genuine effort to get the course in tip top shape which is encouraging.
Format was Stable ford and 2 closest to the pin holes on the 3rd and 10th.
It became quite warm by the end of the round but the effect has been minimised with the introduction of the carts being available.
Chuck Mc Morris had a blinder with 42 points to win the day with David Exley in second with 37. John Cooke Mr Consistent took third place with 35 points.
Closest to the Pin winners were John Cooke and Roy Pimblett.
Decision was made to play the ball as it lies with the course being in good condition. Next week though at Wing 23 we may have to decide on the morning subject to the condition of the course.

Enjoyable round at Ubolrat Golf course with our Friday group of Udon Golfers. Great turn up of 14 players even though a few are away.
Course in top condition enabling us to play the ball as it lay.
Chuckles "The Bandit" Mc Cormick won the day with 39 points. Only 2 players i.e.. Chuck and John Cooke had scores over 30 points.

UDON GOLF UBOLRAT FRIDAY ROUND RESULTS 7TH MARCH 2014
Another good roll up for our regular Friday round at Ubolrat with the course once again in very good condition. It got to around 39 degrees just prior the completion of our round and thankfully we started early.
Super effort today from Per Hansen who had 24 points on the front nine to finish with 41 points overall. He played superb but did have a touch of “Tony” along the way. We/I managed to throw him off a touch to start the back nine but credit to him as he recovered and finished strong.
Scotty Taylor had the planets aligned to record a credible 38 points while Peter Hellery overcame the heat, conditions plus Trevor edge to put together a 34 point round.
Closest to the Pins on par 3 holes went to Ian Barrett and John Cooke.

We have trialled Wing 23 but have felt the course is not in good enough condition to continue there unless forced to.
Sri Thani having carts now also is a major factor in our decision as many of our members need to avail themselves of this facility now.
By playing our Society Round on a Monday in allows our Golfers to play Mon-Wed –Frid which allows a days break between games.

Udon Golf Society 10th March Round at Srithani.
10 Members turned up this morning for our Stroke Round which we realized would test the group out.
Course in ok condition although the greens needed cutting and mowing as they were slow. Stroke play of course tougher to adapt to although it is enjoyable.
A few very high scores on the par 5 holes that did not prove to “Lucky’ for some.
Peter Hellery though continually on the improve had a good score to win the day with 69. Ian Barrett also had a great round with a 70 followed by John Cooke in 3rd spot with 74.
Closest to the Pin holes went to Graham Firth and Chuck Mc Cormick.
Overall Scores- Peter Hellery 69,Ian Barrett 70,John Cooke 74,William Chang 78,Graham Firth 79,Terry Aston& David Exley 83,Tony Jones 85,
Chuck Mc Cormick 93.
No Society Round next week as the Group will be in Khon Kaen for the March IFGG Round.

Ubolrat Friday Round 14th March 2014
A few guys away today noticeably John Cooke, John Mc Morris, Scotty Taylor, Per Hansen and Bob Strutt for various reasons ,however we still had 9 guys who fronted up this morning at Ubolrat.
The temperature was expected to reach high 30’s i.e. 39/40 and this proved to be the case. Hydrating was essential for anyone who wanted to get through the round.
Course was on good condition although it did test our Play as it lay policy with some wet and muddy spots on the course. However in the opinion of the majority it is still preferred to play as it lies compared to being unsure where the fairway ends of the rough commences.
Overall there were much improved scores which was heartening for a few of us who have struggled lately.
Winners; David Exley 40 points, Terry Aston 36,Peter Hellery 35.
Closest to the pin on the par 3’s went to Graham Firth and John Ward.

IFGG March Round 2014
Twelve of our members turned up at Ubolrat yesterday ie 17th to compete in our opening round of this year’s IFGG.
Hot conditions prevailed and tested all players as reflected in the low scores. The Greens were a touch slower than usual but were still true which made it the same for everyone.
We teed off at 9 and it made for a relatively slow round as there were many Thais on the course preparing for a Tournament later in the week.
Winner with 36 points was Tony Jones with John Cooke ion 2nd with 33 and Chuck McCormick pipping Peter Hellery on countback with 32 points.
We had 4 Closest to the Pin Holes with Graham Firth, John Furlong winning one each and Peter Hellery cleaning up the other two holes.
With 7 players within 5 points of the leader Tony Jones it was felt that the Overall spot was wide open.
A good social night out in Khon Kaen followed the round with dinner at Di Dine and drinks at The Blue Bar.
830am tee off on Tuesday 18th following breakfast for most pre the round in the Dancoon dining room.
John Furlong had to wear the Funny hat to tee off due to this miserable 21 points at Ubolrat.
In spite of the oppressive conditions there were many high scores recorded making light of any suggestion that a night out drinking affected a players performance the following day.
John Furlong surprised everyone to record 39 points to go from bottom to top within 24 hours. If he was a horse he would be swabbed for sure.
Peter Hellery continued his great form to finish second winning on count back over David Exley and Tony Jones.
Closest to the Pin on the par 3 holes on the back nine went to John Cooke and Terry Aston.
Overall 2 day Winner was Tony Jones with 2,36 point rounds which was impressive as rarely does the first day leader win the overall 2 day comp.
Trevor Edge who suffered with a head cold the total round earned the Funny Hat and the Wooden Spoon on count back from Ian Barrett.
APRIL IFGG ROUND will be Wednesday 8th at Singha and Thursday 9th at Ubolrat.

Early 7 30am tee off at Srithani this morning to try and avoid the forecast 41 degree heat.

Numbers were down with members away at this time so we only had 7 in attendance.

Course in ok condition although the greens were slow which was surprising seeing they had a tournament on the course Sunday.




No Closest to the pin on the designated par 3 holes so instead we had a Winner and Runner-up Prize instead.

Winner Terry Aston 35 points, 2nd Chuck Mc Morris 34, 3rd Scotty Taylor 33 Peter Hellery 30,Gary Parks, John Ward, William Chang all on 25 points.




A Thai Holiday next Monday but we will advise later in the week if we will take a chance that if we teed off early we would miss the expected Thai groups.

Srithani have reverted to Sports Day Prices for the weekends and Thai holidays, commencing now.
