Sorry Boes, but officially, it's a free service. Remember, no receipt given, the money is destined for the back pocket or handbag. Can I suggest that you read earlier in this topic?

However their web site is pretty comprehensive on exactly what evidence you need in order to obtain which visa & the postal option works better for me.
I believe that when the Embassy introduced their postal system (about 4 years ago) they removed the postal option from the Consulates..
I've never thought to post, we're only just over an hour away & it gives Mrs N an excuse to go shopping in London
I'm really not comfortable posting such important documentation including my passport when I've seen the complete disarray they work in but, hey, I might give it a go. It'll certainly save a huge credit card bill from Mrs N :-"
May the bridges I burn light the path in front of me

Agreed, nor do I. But I do look at Immigration, because they NEED watching! Only 100 baht today, but you can decide whether you're bothered about the idea of being 'had' or not. I can assure you that others have been targeted for a lot more than that and Immigration Officers must be delighted when an 'uninformed' walks in. Your choice.

Hope your "watching" will sort the problems in the future. I'm not here to fight malpractice and corruption - not my country. Been here 15 years and it only disgusts me more by the day....

Well, we all should make a contribution to contain corruption by not paying for free services.

It’s their country and they make the rules, the official ones and the not so official ones. I don’t mind at all giving a small token gesture if it keeps them happy that way I get a better service. No bouncing me back and forward the way they do to the falangs that complain. In fact next time I do a 90 day report and I am request to give 100 baht I will give 200 baht that way I will walk out feeling twice as superior as the hard up moaners and whiners that seem to be posting on here.

I have been working in Phnom Penh for the last 3 Months.I got a Months's visa on my arrival at the Airport.I now have a 1 year visa, everything arranged by my school. The only documents needed,an application form and my passport. That's me sorted for a year.Beats all the nonsense and hassle and cost of Thai Immigration. No more crossing the Laos border every 3 Months.Wonderful! Makes you realise how much the Thai Authorities relish making life difficult and ripping off Farangs.

It does make you wonder where the Thai government paranoia comes from.
I had over a long period a couple of 2 year temp residence visa for Vietnam. Not a stamp in the passport but a visa in plastic. Once that application is complete you just rock up to immigration and come and go as much as you want or stay as long as you want. No reporting to any one.

BobHelm wrote:You are welcome & good luck..

One thing, I (going for a multiple entry non o based on retirement last June) sent London a self addressed (& paid :( ) recorded delivery Royal Post envelope.
My passport took about 14 days to get back to me as the Embassy sent it ordinary post as I should have added £xx (about £10, I think) to my Postal Order payment rather than doing that. They included a rather pointed standard letter pointing out my error..
I took some comfort in the fact that I was obviously not the first to make this error... :D
Just an update and thanks to Bob on this (not correct thread but original conversation was here - feel free to move!!!)

I applied for Non Imm O visa by marriage to London Embassy by post last Friday and received passport with new one year multi entry visa today. Documents sent were:

- Passport
- 3 month UK bank statement
- Copy marriage cert
- Copy wife ID
- 2 Photos
- Self Addressed Envelope
- Postal Order for £135 including £10 for return postage.

Note that the post office charged £12.50 for the postal order and when added to my own postage and photos, the total cost was nearly £160.

I was impressed with efficiency, however, now we cannot get visas at the consulate in Hull, I might take the option to extend next year taking the associated costs into account of dealing annually with the embassy in London.

Thanks again Bob for pointing me in the right direction.

Went to immigration yesterday to renew my Retirement Extension of Stay. In and out in 30 minutes with full one year stamp in the passport. They seem to have dropped that Under Consideration nonsense that was in place last year. Did not mind leaving the 100 baht change as service was quick and courteous compared to other offices further south.

@Alex0 , What documentation did they require to confirm your residence?
