Udon Jail Breakout!

Postby BangkokButcher » August 8, 2006, 10:09 pm

Just seen on Thai TV, that there was a jail break today (8th) in Udon.

Apparently the guy who broke out was a major drugs dealer in the area, and managed to escape whilst the warden/officer was under the influence of lao kao..

Anybody heard anything else about it??

The Great Escape..

Postby FrazeeDK » August 9, 2006, 7:24 pm

Arrested in Rayong, transferred to Bangkok, then transferred to Udon????
What's with that?? And "suspected of having escaped to Lao as they had Amphetamine contacts there??" Sounds like palms were greased to get them close to their druggie godfathers across the river... Oh, and the guard, that's rather rich, "admitted to having one beer." That almost Pythonesque!! But, sir, t'was only ONE Beer... It probably was a large beer eh??

I am surprised that the news of the fours re-arrest wasn't reported. Apparently, according to Udondee, three were apprehended at Nakhon Sri Thammerat in the South, sometime last week and the other one somewhere else. I think the police must be commended for an obviously effective system of informants.

Further news on this. Police are investigating how the gang leader had a mobile phone in his possession inside jail, on which he rang his younger sister to come and pick them up outside. She was apparently the driver of the getaway car and is herself in jail now for aiding the breakout.

Actually Lee it is becoming a serious candidate for the jokes column. This is the latest on Udondee today.
The gang leaders sister took the telephone in on the pretext he couldn't eat jail food and he wanted to order a take away. When the battery ran low they had arranged to exchange batteries through a small hole in the brickwork round the excercise yard, a daily occurence apparently. The sister paid for the help of a past and the present girl friend of the leader, to avoid suspicion, they took turns visiting.During these visits they took in large bottles of coke in which were secreted hacksaw blades. (change from the birthday cake). The three accomplices were given 500,000bht each for their help and to assist getaway by the sister.
So far the sister and the ex girlfriend, who had arranged her marriage to someone else, for the 2nd September, are inside waiting for a charge of aiding the escape. The current girl friend who worked in a bank in Galasin is still being sought by police.Anyone interested in further details including the girls names etc can find that info on Udondee .com but I thought it unwise to broadcast that on here.

maybe they could stay in an open prison, like in the UK so they could come and go as they please.
or have day release so they could go and buy lottery tickets and win the jackpot whilst still serving their sentance LoL.
(the lottery bit did happen a few years back in UK) ..

Maybe it was Udon's attempted answer to the "Early Release scheme being considered in the UK!!

Quote from BBC News in UK:
Full jails spark 'early releases'

Prisons in England and Wales are very nearly full. The Home Office is drawing up plans to release thousands of prisoners early, to free up cells in overcrowded jails.

The prison system is nearly full and has room for only another 700 inmates - hence plans to extend what is called the "transitional home leave" scheme.

The scheme would not apply to sex offenders or violent criminals, but to "low-risk" inmates serving between four weeks and four years. Nor would it apply to foreign nationals who were due for deportation.
