Udon Police Crack "Love" Gang

Postby parrot » June 27, 2011, 9:47 pm

Udon Thani Police announced the arrest of the "Love" gang (I'm not making that up) that stole more than 30 motorcycles. The kids, ages 12, 13, 13, and 14, had the word 'love' tattooed on their arms/legs. The kids were all from Amphur NaGlang, in Nongualamphu Province.
Police were notified by a citizen that the gang members were riding around dirt roads near the ring road at Ban Leum, Udon. Once apprehended, the kids told the police they did not attend school and starting hanging around together. Before long, they longed for a motorcycle. After traveling to Udon by bus, they stole snacks from stores and slept under a railroad overpass.
One of the gang members had a master key that was used to steal the vehicles. Gang members would steal a motorcycle, hide it, and later drive it to NaGlang. According to the gang members, they did it for fun. The gang admitted to stealing more than 30 motorcycles. When the police went to the gang's hiding place (for motorcycles), they found seven motorcycles.
The police suspect that the vehicles were perhaps exchanged for money or drugs. The police are investigating that someone else is behind the gang (my words: someone older), as they know that if the kids are caught, they will be released before long and not detained.

My 3 A.M. rethink of this piece is: the translation is okay, but my inference that the gang was operating in/around the night market was not.
So.....change that last line to read:
watch out for your motorcycle in/around Udon!!

Why would you suggest they might be possible future red shirt leaders? I do not see the connection. The red shirt supporters that I know are very decent people who are looking for a better life for themselves, and their families.

Yes, but Uncle Tilo, you must admit some of the red shirt leaders (starting from the very top) leave a fair bit to be desired - by any political standard.

Should I start with the shining light who addressed the masses here in Ban Dung last Friday - a particularly tasty character by the name of Chalerm.

We could then move on to the charmers who invited the masses to "bring your empty bottles, so we can fill them with petrol and set fire to Bangkok" a bit over 12 months ago.

I will stop there. The supporters are no doubt decent, but the same cannot be said for most of their leaders.

Oh sorry LYM i dint realise there were that many red supporters in Canada .

My post was a play on words as some /most of the red leaders have been in jail breifly , involved in voilence (sorry again to remind you of the BKK uprising) and now some are on the verge of a PT cabinet seat ,,,,,,,, need i digress and mention the great K. Chalerm and his cop killing son ,,,,,,, whilst many of the supporters are decent law abiding Thai citizens burning town halls and all is not the decent thing to do , many are rural poorly educated who love Thaksin cos he threw 30 k per family at them in the years gone by , he bought the people then and will do again ,,,, so all that baloney is just that and that goes for the yellows in some part as well , only a few more days and the preverbial poopoo will hit the fan ,,,,,,,,, you should be ok dont think the splatter back will reach Vankoover .

MP mash reporting from somewhere in rural isaan ??......... THATS MASH POTATO

I was going to do the article at
http://www.manager.co.th/Around/ViewNew ... 0000078678
for homework tonight....but instead, I'll just provide a photo and a gist of the oiji board meeting that was purportedly held at Chern Chim's in the wee hours of the morning. I can't quite make out where pienmash is sitting, but I'd guess he's the one with the voodoo doll in his hand.

Actually, the article discusses the increase in the number of 'red shirt villages' in Udon province from 320 back in March to 710 now.

I'm all for politics and, while I may disagree if you're a red shirt or yellow shirt or monitor lizard-face supporter, I get a bit concerned when they start bringing in the shaman priest to cast a spell on the events.

Khun Pienmash, your post contains some truth, as usual, but hitting on the reds hardly seems fair as the sort of political activity you portray has been part and parcel of Thai politics since the 1930s. It just seemed odd to single out the reds from the rest of the politicians.

Yes, red supporters in Canada are few and far between. We tend to be Tory blue these days. On the other hand, I did not realise there were that many dedicated anti-red supporters in amphur muang Udonthani.

As for Thaksin, you might ask yourself, who threw money at poorly educated rural voters of Isaan in the past? You are a victim of yellow shirt propaganda if you think the only people who support the reds in Isaan are farmers. Try asking a few of the teachers, lawyers, shopkeepers and so on in Udon city who they support, and you might be surprised if you think their answer is, anybody but the reds.

The voters in Isaan, the north and the rest of Thailand in rural and urban areas, are a lot smarter than you give them credit for, and very few are hoodwinked. Of course, the amnesty plan is for your 'master manipulator', and the Thais I know, including red supporters, are aware of this. However, when they look at the options available to them in the election, many farmers, professional people, service workers, etc. are going to opt for the group they feel best represents them. If it turns out the promises made by winning politicians are hollow, well, this will not be much different than what happens in England, Canada, Australia, the U.S.A., et al, chai mai?

I think we are off topic, and this might be moved to one of the more political threads.

Once again a poster endeavoring to present local news of interest, after all , it is the forum heading, has been hijacked by the sausage mafia and others. May I suggest if you really aren't interested in whats going on in Udon that Lee deletes the heading or substitutes it with a more appropriate one .Then I for one can get on with the task of eating his delicious fruit pies rather than reading his rather confusing multi topic postings .

In a way the connection is there TB and vaguely on topic , as i was purely pointing out that the parents of these riff raff theives are to blame for how thier children are raised which led to make a comparision to some of the more unstable red shirt leaders in thier youth.

I do however egree the fruit pies are spot on (let me know about the bacon too) and apologise if i confused the topic posting / thread heading.

mash ......... sausage mafia , i like that got a ring to it !!
