Udon's most expensive bar

Things to do and places to see in Udon Thani.

Postby wokkawombat » August 20, 2008, 1:00 pm

I ate well at the factory last night. Phad Phak Ruam Mit Kai and Khao.

Menu price for large Leo is 70 baht. The opening promotion price is 39 baht for Leo only. Makes sense to me.

yes it is, following up on John's recommendation to take a peek, them leo's were ok, shh, don't tell anyone i wasn't drinking tiger, which is a very reasonable 50/80 sm/lg. leo's for 39, rather nice, tho i blame it on another member. started with a couple at his house, and god forbid, out of a can. shh, i'l blow my image.

anyway, the panang moo, red, was quite tasty and spiced up as it should be. asked if i needed it toned down, please no, serve as normal, plenty of beer in box if to spicy. tom yam soup had very nice flavor also, along with some veggies in oyster sauce and Gem gave her khai phat a thumbs up along with couple rices, so no complaints, and escaped with less than 400 baht, inc. tip w/2 lg beers.

menu has standard thai dishes, western had a couple interesting things on it, bit different and worth a try next time. nothing there to break the bank, most well under 100, 50-80 range. most exp. was t-bone, 210, but dont' quote me. service very prompt and courteous. think they'll do just fine, exspecially with beer prices under the norm. decent location w/parking on street available. definitely a stop when at ruysuk, as nothing else did it for me in the area.

Phew, I thought you were talking about me there for a minute. You can certainly see how many people are struck by the magic of the internet.

Just have a look at the many times per day a member notches up another 8, 10, or more short or sometimes long answers to a topic. Do they ever leave their computer room and what time the local people get on, so early in the morning. It is something we have to get used to I suppose, the internet is here to stay.

As the Australian Stock Exchange opens at 7am Thai time that is the time I usually log onto the internet. I swap between the share trading page and several forums. The forums are used for light relief in between making money buying and selling and controlling my investments and income producing activities. :D

ah yes, either staring at charts or level II, researching stocks, then the occasional humor/therapy break via forum. i know it well. if like usa market, 1st two hours, the last hour are the moving hours.

i also jump on, the internet, after Gem's school run, w/my bucket of coffee maybe on, maybe not on the balcony. yes, us internet addicted, chained to chair with eyes forced open and fingers superglued to keyboard.

then off course the is always the option of jumping of internet and on something softer................but this isn't the adult section.

sometimes opinionated people only see and read what they want. and really haven't got a clue without knowing the other person personally. just amazing how our sorry lives are discovered simply by posting amounts and times.

i think I

its understanable if you go into a girls bar prices are dearer, but come on only 50 baht more on 3 drinks in girls bar not bad,if you really want to be ripped off on drinks go to mr tongs,by thr way Glyn i hear you got a nice place to stay and yes your prices are good,i was in udon for 3 weeks ,and hope go there 3 times a year,i would have liked to stay at your guest house, but you were abit far out from the action.

want inside ac, nice music, not too loud, gracious host/hostess, Irish Clock hard to beat, nicely poured full pint of tiger, mere 80 baht. Don't forget your meat pie pig out, mere 150 baht, stuffed.

lg Tiger at 60 baht, i think, new place, Saengkaew Restaurant, out just a bit further than TJ's, just befor Englishmans resort. some tasty, also inexpensive food to go with that.

and new one, just visited by Mark, 60 for lg leo, Kruah Mah Kang Restaurant

Plenty of inexpensive beers around town. no need to pay large beer prices for small ones. whether sitting in watching the game with little bluesy or classics as backround music at Irish Clock, or out in fresh air watching Udon stroll by or refill your glass.

doesn't get much better.

oops, someone typing as i am, hmm, who could that be. probabaly so cheap charlie who only sips it at home and only buys it in Laos for half thai price. does remind me of someone. :D

UNLESS YOUR WITH A NICE WOMAN

don't leave home without her, think i'll change her name to American Express

your points are well taking, if single, i would get my freak on at irish clock or night market, then venture out to the livelier places, which are thai owned, not farang managed. tawan daeng is a favorite when single, or smaller and not as loud if actually wanting to converse before the witching hour.
