nice idea statto - one to keep on the back boiler at the moment I think, but certainly not worth discarding. I am pleased to announce I broke my jinx last night by winning my first game of the season - we lost our match as usual :( , but I went home with a skip in my step (that may have been the alcohol of course!)
There have already been a couple of disputes at games with regard to the rules - I find it difficult to understand - the rules IMO are simple and straightforward - maybe the font size needs to be increased to allow for blurred vision due to too much beer!!! Please ensure that all players, and especially captains, are fully conversant with the rules as set out in the 'Udon Pool League rules' sheet. Here endeth the lesson!!!
Steve, the landlord of the Irish Clock has offered to pay for a trophy for the winners and one for the runners up for this season. Many thanks to Steve for this generous offer. I will arrange the purchase on Steve's behalf prior to the presentation.

Many thanks to Steve for his generous offer, especially when you think that he has Cueball in his team, and therefore doesn't have a hope in hell of ever seeing the trophys again

Seriously though, congrats to Cueball, on his first point of the season. You played well enough to have got more.
Regardless of the result, a great nights entertainment was had by everyone in our match, with many of the frames going down to a black ball "shootout".

Not sure of the other results yet, but sufice to say, we in PA1 are still hanging on to The Yellow Devils coat tails  , and are determined not to let them get away. If they want a Third straight title they are going to have to work for it

Cueball, can you please keep us up to date on any developments with regard to the teams that used to use Harley O'Tooles as their base.

Many Thanks

Statto
No one has contacted me to ask for a venue change or to let me know if the teams are even still in existence. No doubt somewhere along the line I will be told so that I can make any necessary changes to the fixture list - but until that time, i am as much in the dark as you!! ](*,)

Well, week 5 of the league was played last night, and I'm not sure that I can believe what I am being told from "A Beer to far" .............. YELLOW DEVILS 5 FIDDLERS GREEN 10. :yikes:
If this is true, (and by the looks on the faces of one team, and the partying going on by the other I think it just might be), it has thrown the league wide open again.
When you realise that FG had been beaten home and away by Mollies boys in weeks 1 & 2, and Yellow Devils had "thrashed" Mollies Boys in weeks 3 & 4, you start to see what a fantastic effort this was by George and his guys at the fiddlers. Congratulations have to go to all your team, along with a warning ........ the return match is next week on your table, and you know what they say about a "Wounded animal" :fryingpan: . Anyone who has time to spare next Tuesday (9th), could do a lot worse than to nip into Fiddlers Green to see the rematch :guiness:
Other results from last night (unconfirmed)
Patricks Army (2) 4 - 11 Happy Wanderers
One Stars 7 - 8 Patrick's Army (1)
The O'Tooles P - P Mollies Boys

If these results are confirmed, it's all change at the top, with Yellow Devils down from top spot to 3rd.
Happy Wanderers after their 5th straight win move into 2nd place (5 pts and 45 frames won).
And the new leaders will be ............. Patrick's Army (1) with 5pts and 46 frames won.

Congrats to Peter, Blue, and Ben =D> , who overcame the odds to sneak the 8 - 7 away win at One Stars and snatch the Number 1 spot =D> . (This was done with absolutely no help what so ever from yours trully who managed to loose all three singles matches, and needed more than a bit of help to win my only doubles match :-$ )

I have just sent the confirmed scores and league positions to Glyn for posting on his website (englishmansretreat.com)
Individual teams scores can be found at udondayandnight.com. I will gladly e:mail results direct to any individual in the teams who lets me know his/her e:mail address if they need the results as soon as they become confirmed and available !

Statto - I hope being around me has not rubbed off onto you! If its any consolation I was back to my normal form last night - even delegating myself to only playing doubles hasn't helped - I seem to bring my team mate down to my level instead of the other way round! A really enjoyable night having said that - The jing joes lads said the same (mind you, they would do - they beat us 12-3 !!!).
I was told the YD and FG score quite late on into the night - by that time I was sure I didn't hear it correctly, and laughed it of due to the large alcohol consumption I had partaken of by that time, only to be told by one of the FG players that it really was true (the smile on his face told me that he wasn't kidding !)
It has certainly turned the legue upside down - a nice close run thing at the moment - plenty of time for more upsets and surprises as the weeks go on though - just watch out for the underdogs - they may surprise everyone (would blo*ody suprise me!!!)

I have yet to confirm with Eddie at HOT but I understand that he is happy to continue hosting the pool - this means that Mollies Boys should have a home venue to play from (hopefully next week, although their opponents (the Otooles) may well have disbanded). Watch this space for any further developments!

I would just like it to be known the forum that even though I have signed with the Orange Moon on a short-term contract I will in fact be retaining ownership of my merchandising rights and under no circumstances will the Orange Moon be using my name for advertising and / or sponsorship purposes. 8)
