Udon to Pattaya
Can anyone suggest to me the best, and quickest, way to get to Pattaya from Udon, without driving myself?
Thinking of going down to Pattaya (for 1 or 2 nights) in December.

Bus 407 leaves many times a day from the Central Bus station.xyba wrote:Can anyone suggest to me the best, and quickest, way to get to Pattaya from Udon, without driving myself?

Alternatively, fly to BKK and take taxi to Patts from the airport.

I would avoid the 407 personally... if you intend to take the bus, I would recommend either 'Air Udon', or better still 'Chan Tour' (S Class)... the extra 100 baht or so is worth it IMHO, based on comfort and safety record.

Chan tour doesn't go to Pattaya, goes to MoChit instead.
Having said that, there is a fast connection from MoChit to Pattaya.
And I personally would prefer to take that route.
407 is a terrible bus company.

All the buses from Udon go to to Mochit (except the Airport Bus, of course).Peterplay wrote:Chan tour doesn't go to Pattaya, goes to MoChit instead.
Not in my experience, and I've used them (VIP bus) at least a dozen times407 is a terrible bus company.

As long as nothing has changed since last week, 407 goes directly via Pattaya to Rayong. My family took the bus many times and never ended up in Mo Chit.

Of course they do (as I suggested to OP in my first post)! I was referring to the buses to BKKPeterplay wrote:As long as nothing has changed since last week, 407 goes directly via Pattaya to Rayong. My family took the bus many times and never ended up in Mo Chit.

The 407 bus will drop you off on Sukhumvitte and Central Pattaya rd ( Pattaya Klang ) I took the 407 a few times it's ok, but flying is better, Air Asia cost less than 2,000 B. If you take the Udon bus 407 better take the 9 pm bus arrive Pattaya 5- 6 am, 10 hours or so. Once i took the daytime 08:30 bus and it took over 12 hours and we stopped 25 times. NEVER AGAIN !!
cheers...

Check in UTH 30 minutes before departure with THAI airways, set off on time as usual, arrive at BKK, jump in a taxi to pattaya. Job done in around 3 hours.
Buses are for the rice farmers.

Thanks for all the answers. A few choices which is helpful.
I'll be staying 10km from Na Klang in Nongbualamphu and don't think I'll be able to manage more than 48hrs without a bar nearby.
