Have buses Udon-Rayong. Don't know if they pass/stop Pattaya but you could get out nearby (Sattahip maybe?)

If you don't find anything more direct, you could always take the bus from Pattaya to Bangkok's Ekamai station, then take the skytrain from Ekamaai to Morchit bus terminal, then a bus from Morchit to Udon.

I would confirm, there are buses directly from Udon to Rayong. So, Pattaya is one station that the buses will stop for you.

The direct bus to Pattaya stops every lamp post, so take plenty of reading and listening material.

TW and I took the 407 which goes from Udon to Rayong over Kabin Buri. 480 ThB
each. Not many stops but it's a long ride, 11 hrs to Bang Saen(ChonBuri) where we jumped off.

I took the 407 also. LONG trip. I rode at night to Pattaya. During the day back to Udon. The night trip was better and much cooler.
