UK State Pension

Postby Naam Jai » November 14, 2007, 7:13 am

I think it comes to about 90 pounds a week for a single man but am told that there is no married couples pension. I heard that some expats get married to boost their pension to 150 pounds a week? How do they manage that?

More on this one. There is a dependency allowance of 52.30. Does anyone claim this? How easy was it to get once you are retired? Is the LOS dependent married to you or not?

Hi.
I'm getting £120 give or take a few pence a week. I lived in the Isle of Man so get the U.K. pension plus £42 a week extra which brings it to £162 a week.
Cheers Doug.

Douglas
What do you get the 42 pound for and how did you apply for it? I presume you are married?

I have a state pension forecast and I rang 0191 218 777 and learned that if I live in Thailand I will get a Married Womens Retirement Pension of 53.20p per week fixed and no increments. No additional pension allowance though. I don't know yet about carers allowance as I get Long term invalidity benefit now, which I lose on receiving state pension.

Can anyone confirm or offer advice?
