Iranian FM: Resistance against Zionists unites Palestinians

Salehi calls Hamas-Fatah unity deal a "blessed move" that will lead to great victories against "ruthless occupiers," praises Egypt for mediating role.

The unity agreement between Hamas and Fatah is a "blessed, positive move," Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said Thursday according to the IRNA news agency.

Salehi said the move was "in line with the Palestinian nation's historic objectives" and also praised the new Egyptian government's role in mediating between the two factions.

The Iranian foreign minister added that the uniting force between the two groups is "resistance against the Zionist occupiers," IRNA reported, as well as unity among the Palestinian people themselves.

"Observing these two necessities would lead to the materialization of the Palestinian nation’s absolute rights,” IRNA quoted Salehi as saying.

Salehi also said he hoped that the reconciliation agreement would "lead to acceleration of the developments in the Palestine region and to acquiring great victories in confrontations with the ruthless occupiers."

I think any agreement that reduces the possibility of people being killed should be welcomed Dermot.
The UK & the USA unfortunately have their hands all too messily involved in the start of this conflict.
Neither of those Governments will come out of history with a very intact reputation with their meddling
in affairs in Palestine that have absolutely nothing to do with them.

It is a pity that Iran has taken the 'unite against the Zionists' welcome approach to the agreement.
it is equally a pity that Israel is already starting to try & press USA to put obstacles in the way of the two parties forming a functioning Palestinian Government.
Sadly both those countries have the interests of the Palestinian people way down the back of their list of priorities.

I find it interesting that in Palestine the conflict was given the name 'Wakseh'.
This means 'humiliation, ruin, and collapse as a result of self-inflicted damage'.
A very fair analysis of a conflict between two groups encouraged & helped in the conflict by outside interests.
