House votes to repeal ban on gays in military

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12005773
The Democratic-led House voted 250-175

It will be interesting to see if it manages to get to a vote in the Senate before the year is out...
Supporters of the bill say that they are confident that they have the 60 Senate votes necessary to get it passed...

Including, it seems, the Sec of Defence, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Throw in Obama, and you have numbers 1, 2 and 3 in the defence hierarchy all intent on reducing the military.

no, DADT is repealed and now DOD has a transition period to amend internal policies and regulations to eliminate anything that administratively dictates the discharging of gays from the military.. This will also have to include amending elements of the UCMJ.. I would envisage first a moratorium on any actions and up to a six month period to actually change regs and policies.

I would also predict some type of high level review board for each service to re-admit individuals previously discharged under DADT regs/policies. Expect some folks discharged years ago to sue for readmission with all backpay/allowances and the attendant news media circus..

butch lesbian or flaming gay pilots could be sitting in the Reaper/Predator control booths at Creech AFB in Nevada circling a hellfire loaded UAV over Osama's head at this very instant! Dead and blown to hamburger is all the same no matter who pulls the trigger..... I don't think the bad guys give much thought to who is on the dealing end of death, just that it's a-coming..
