In the report, interesting to note that US sailors not permitted to ride Jetskis...... To avoid a diplomatic inccident? Also seems possible the local cops have been briefed to ensure controversial events do not happen ..... temporarily. I wonder why a bed on land has such great attractions; possibly due to better choice of who you share the bed with!

Also interesting that they would say that the televised incident recently was Us marines!!! When in fact it was Royal Marines (GB).... hope that the locals dont take it out on the US marines for causing all that bad publicity and lying about these poor honest jet ski operators!!!

I'm surprised they didn't mention motorbikes. US military personnel are also not permitted to rent, drive or ride on motorbikes. Anyway, after sleeping in one of these after a month at sea I would be ready for bed on land too :D

actually, i think there were 2 incidents, one involving a yank, who admitted damaging the jetski, but something like 40k baht was paid. i would think it's almost impossible to damage a jetski to that extent, with slamming into rocks and killing yourself.

Are you suggesting that the girls are following the fleet? Shades of some Med cruises I was on many years ago!

Interesting facts from the link:

USS Ronald Reagan: (CVN-76) is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarrier in the service of the United States Navy. The ninth ship of her class, she is named in honor of former President Ronald Reagan, President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Upon her christening in 2001, she was the first ship to be named for a living former president. Ronald Reagan displaces approximately 95,000 tons of water fully loaded, has a top speed of over 30 knots (56 km/h), powered by two nuclear reactors driving four screws, and can sail for over 20 years before needing to refuel. She is nearly as long as the Empire State Building is tall at 1092 feet (333 m) and is 134 feet (41 m) wide at the beam and has a flight deck 252 feet (77 m) wide. The flight deck covers over 4.5 acres (18,000 m. She can carry more than 5500 sailors and over 80 aircraft.
