I was told that I could settle early, i.e. obtain a redemption figure, which would be preferable to just paying up all the payments earlier. So BM I think much the same as us in the UK.

Almost every finance deal has provision for early settlement; however there is often a small penalty for this to allow the bank to correct the resulting mismatch in timing of its assets and liabilities.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to opt for an early settlement you need to do your sums to see that you are not being excessively penalised for early settlement.

Take care, some institutions will try to take advantage and impose punitive charges on early settlement :(

A Falang with a suitable visa can get finance, but, the same as a Thai getting finance, you must have a Thai guarantor.
In the case of a Thai financing I believe that any other Thai (with their name on a blue book) will do. In the case of a Thai guaranteeing a Falang I believe it is better/easier if the Thai is in a position of some authority within the community - government employee, teacher, that type of thing...
However, all that being said.....I am sure that if a Falang rolled up at one of the car dealers with a healthy deposit, something other than a tourist visa, a good attitude & a few thousand baht extra then a deal could be struck :D
