Just left it. Stayed absolutely motionless there for about an hour & then, in an instant was gone & over the garden wall to the waste land behind us.
Lucky for it the TG was out & about :D
I have (once) seen one bigger - it was inside a Thai house that was well off the beaten track & situated by a lake - not even on the mains electric. Went there to visit a much 'removed' relative & the entire time we were there it was hanging on the wall with me keeping an eye on it. :D

I think they are one of those things that are more frightened of us AA.
I would imagine that they could give a nasty bite if you tried to pick one up though!! :D

living in Loei province 8 years,my experience is it's impossible to identify a snake even with books
there's so many of them and they are so variables
i saw a very beautiful outside my house 50cm sleeping in daylight on the way, looked dead, brownish velvet with some orange on the back of the head, scales small like silk, triangular in section, head not triangular which won me to let it be
but now i look every time i put my feet around

By boa, are you referring to pythons? If they are pythons, are they the light brown, dark brown, with black markings (Burmese Pythons/Dunkler Tigerpython), as opposed to the pythons with grey, black, yellow and white markings (Reticulated Python/Netzpython)? I am within a week of a submission deadline for geographical distribution and natural history notes on Burmese Pythons in Thailand, so locations in Thailand are very important for this species. The only location published for Loei is Phu Luang.

This is Python molurus bivittatus (Burmese Python)

This is Python (Broghammerus) reticulatus (Reticulated Python)

Both should be found in our area. At 6m, Python (Broghammerus) reticulatus is capable of swallowing people, but I do not know of any attacks on humans in Thailand and the largest wild one I have come across was only 387cm.

This one I found in my air-con unit, in pieces. :(

But what is it? or was it?

That is Chrysopelea ornata (Golden Tree Snake), which is rear-fanged, but should be considered harmless. If you were to let it chew on you for a while, you are sure to get some swelling ;)

Whilst watering the plants today I found this snake in one of the plants, about 1 m long, IMO a harmless Bronzeback but I would like Michael to confirm. They are quite common over here, recently I found a dead one on the road, took it home for pics.
Michael, the word is yours =D>

This is a nice one for Michael. I don't know if you can determine a snake on it's skin but I hope so as I found this skin (old jacket) in a corner of the pig house. If it's a danger to 2-week old piglets I will have to find the snake and relocate it...

I will try to resize the pics in a proper way after I read BM's excellent guidelines =D> so here we go:

Our dogs attacked this snake today.....have seen a wide variety of snakes in our neighborhood, but haven't seen this one before. My foot is attached for size reference.
We found a large snake skin nearby our home a week or two ago......the skin on the rear half of the snake in the photo looks like it might have just changed.
Any takers on ID?
