:lol: Is the VFW an American organization?If so,then any American alive today that fought in a war,would be elgible,right?All our wars are fought on foreign soil! :lol:

Actually the VFW is open to all who served in the Armed Forces. There are different types of memberships Best place ask is the people local VFW here in Udon Thani.

No the VFW is not open to all who served. The VFW bylaws state one must have served a certain time in a war zone.

There are only two different types of memberships. Life or yearly.

:lol: I wasn't really looking for info on VFW.For some reason ,I was thinking about the name and it struck me that all our wars are foreign.Not like most countries.I guess they could call it AVW's,American veterans of Wars! :lol:

I stand corrected, sorry about that. The VFW is a great organization, it has contributed to veterans whether they have severed in a war zone or not.The VFW has given much to the families of veterans and continue to give back to people world wide. The VFW here in Udon Thani is a good example, with thier 4th of July and Christmas parties they have each year. I, being a veteran of Vietnam, was a member of the VFW and the VVA (Vietnam Veterans of America) at one time. Just never found the time to participate, with family and work that keep me busy.
