The only reason Thai schools give masses of homework is to cover/catch up the general lesson time missed due to the plethora of events , holidays and other none learning time like sports day etc that take up so much time from studies, also when a teacher is off sick a fill in teacher merely bay sits the the class and gives the bones of the lesson as homework.

IMO .. way way to much homework was is being dished out in the Thai education system .
