Big shake down on Nong Sai road last night
Big shake down on Nong Sai road last night
Mrs tam called me last night around 6:30 to check on my whereabouts as there was 'something big' going on the road between the eastern ring road and Nong Sai. Apparently a huge traffic stop on both sides, all vehicles and motorbikes with on-site piss-testing for drugs as well as the alcohol blow. Apparently started late afternoon in daylight and 'went on late' according to sis-in-law who was stopped and tested while coming back from the market with her boyfriend.
Moobahn gossip suggests that there's some heavy Bangkok-driven enforcement going on based on rumors of a 'major incident' allegedly being planned by local anti-government entities who aren't happy with the incumbent government and associated stuff.
I was on the west side of town so missed all the fun. I hope our fellow 'Eastenders' managed to avoid it all too.

Still trying to figure out the Shake Down part, that usually involves money changing hands. Can see possible political application a little
Re: Big shake down on Nong Sai road last night
according to my village sources, Both Non Sai and Nongnakham are hotbeds of Yabe and meth Pills consumption with some actually acting as suppliers .
Not that I can confirm nor deny the info but years ago Non Sai was known as the Clamidia centre for Udon ,
Both centres may give the aura of respectability, but 200 odd metres behind the facade of shops, is a very ruraL scenario, with all sorts of acceptable ( Thai wise ) goings on .

Re: Big shake down on Nong Sai road last night
The term 'shake down' was arbitrary. I am sure that there was a fair share of pay-to-pass-go as well as those being taken away in a paddy wagon. It was the timing and scope of the stop, test and search that got the local tongues wagging. It went on for at least 3 hours from late afternoon until early evening which is unprecedented. Nobody can recall any police booze check points on that 2-way road before. My only recollection of anything drug related is from a few years back when a farang dealer that escaped a police sting out that way but ended up dead after crashing into the back of a sip-lohr on the Sakon Nakhon road with the cops in pursuit.Stantheman wrote: ↑September 9, 2020, 9:57 pmStill trying to figure out the Shake Down part, that usually involves money changing hands. If like out my way the village police probably doing the work
Boys in grey just load and remove
Normal wife did early evening till about 9pm
Last one was late afternoon into early evening
About 3 hours each time
Average about 15 users each time

Paul I read your post and understood what you said
"according to my village sources, Both Non Sai and Nongnakham are hotbeds of Yabe and meth Pills consumption"
I think you will find these areas are no better or worse than any where else for this problem
Re: Big shake down on Nong Sai road last night
That may be so , but I was actually referring to the OP post regarding a specific area . I am sure Thailand generally is awash with Drugs of one sort or another, luckily most do not really impact many, but the rise in the more common varieties so beloved by many is worrying as many of the users also drive creating a Deadly mix of idiocy with a Legal Motorised lethal weapon .
