Dog deaths problems in villages

Post by vidmaster » February 23, 2021, 8:48 pm

Hi
I hope this is not scaremongering, but in my gf village near Kutchap 8 dogs have died within last 3 days from unexplained reasons
Their symptoms were that they became very lethargic, lost their appetite only drinking water for several days and just lying down to sleep and not waking up
Some villagers are assuming its associated with Covid-19??
Thought I would post in case there is something circulating and dog owners can be made aware
Everyone stay safe

Happened in this village a couple of years ago
Killed cats as well
Seemingly health animals all of a sudden got sick
lost weight and died
thought at the time either poison or snake bite

Had two German shepherd dogs . Became lethargic, not eat. Died within two days!
Thought they were poisoned. But Vet said no.
Days before I took them for a walk. They played in a pool in the trees.
Apparently they picked up a disease. Dogs under 6 months rarely survive.

leptosporisis is common over here, particularly in the wet season out in the countryside where rats abound.. People get it too..

Although the link is dated, there are many reports of dead dogs/cats being found in the Udon area.....most from poisoning, some from disgruntled neighbors after their chickens were killed. One report from last year (can't find the link just yet) was of a village man who found his 5 dogs killed and his fish stolen from a farm.

Recent, short but unseasonably heavy rain, dirty puddles, rats or rural kamoys who poison dogs so they can burgle homes and rustle chooks... take your pick.
