Implements
Implements
I grew where you called a spade a spade
Okay sometimes it may have been a shovel a diamond club or heart
But a spade is and was called a spade

Re: Implements
I read it as noos's rather cryptic protest at the recent rash of deletions.
But I could be wrong.

Guess you're talking about all the completely off topic comments in a few threads and the unneeded back and forth between a few posters.jackspratt wrote: ↑February 25, 2021, 9:44 amI read it as noos's rather cryptic protest at the recent rash of deletions.

To get back on topic where I grew up a Spade rounded down to a point while a shovel had a square straight end.

Re: Implements
Spades are used for cutting into soil in gardening, a shovel is used for clearing spoil/rubble/sand on work sites .

Re: Implements
Garden spades back in Scotland were square but slightly curved with a straight edge for cutting sod. Builders shovels back in Scotland were more curved so they held more material and had a rounded leading edge.Stantheman wrote: ↑February 25, 2021, 9:54 amGuess you're talking about all the completely off topic comments in a few threads and the unneeded back and forth between a few posters.jackspratt wrote: ↑February 25, 2021, 9:44 amI read it as noos's rather cryptic protest at the recent rash of deletions.

Seems you are wrong about a cryptic protest on the rash of deleted postjackspratt wrote: ↑February 25, 2021, 9:44 amI read it as noos's rather cryptic protest at the recent rash of deletions.

Re: Implements
A nice cheese cutter (the hand held one with a wire & roller) would be a nice implement to have, unfortunately when I left UK 20 yrs ago I didn't realise that getting such a common two quid item would be so difficult
Re: Implements
Same experience. On my first visit back to the States I picked one up. I use it two or three times a week and it's adjustable for thicker or thinner slices. Would be lost without it. Wire leader material I use for making fishing leads works perfectly as replacement wire on the slicer.
Re: Implements
Never seen a cheese cutter like that before. I just looked on lazada and they have them so l will order one.

Thanks guys ...... didn't even cross dumbo here's mind to look "on line" for one ........ fraid I'm still of the pencil & paper shopping list era I suppose
Re: Implements
I have a small board with a wire cutter attached , left the UK with it, still use it , but not so much now as Cheese was expensive but is now coming down in price, might be tempted to buy larger chunks
