Benzine Gasoline
Re: Benzine Gasoline
I noticed two PTT stations I passed earlier had the yellow RON95 on the digital hoarding roadside. Don’t know whether they actually had pumps inside although I’d be surprised if they didn’t as there was a price displayed.
The first station was roughly opposite Wing23 Hospital heading out of town on Mittraphap Road, the other was carry on over the ring road onto HWY2 & its 100m or so on the left again
(I’m not a mechanic by any stretch if the imagination but I don’t think one of the previous members recommendation that Diesel B7 will work is particularly good advice. It’s a completely different fuel)

Re: Benzine Gasoline
Carrying on up the first stretch of HWY2 passed the PTT there is an Esso which had RON95 on the hoarding although just in corporate blue like all other fuels so bit difficult to spot.
Next up is Caltex which also had RON95 on the hoarding.
The theme developing seems to be 27.65 baht/ltr today. I drove passed both PTT mentioned before, Esso & Caltex all the same price

Re: Benzine Gasoline
RON95 is definitely being served at the PTT as you head up HWY2 towards Khon Kaen as I’ve just seen a chap get it while I was filling up with derv at the next pump.
It’s only on one island & it’s the first pump as you enter the forecourt

Re: Benzine Gasoline
But remember there are 2 ‘types’ of RON 95 – the regular which the locals call benzine (go figure) and Gasohol 95
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left
Re: Benzine Gasoline
Oh, you got me on that. This stuff is the yellow badge with only Thai script & the number 95. How do you know which is which?

Re: Benzine Gasoline
Went in there this morning to check tyre pressures , and that pump is in fact 95 octane gasahol .
Like i said previously as far as i know PTT have not sold pure benzine for well over a year , maybe two .

Re: Benzine Gasoline
Orange , the label is orange , as all PTT 95 octane gasahol pumps are . I guess if you squint enough it looks like a reddish yellow though .
Also pure benzine is, or was the last time i saw it about 5 or 6 baht a litre more expensive .
So its not difficult to tell the difference , or i thought it wasnt .
Re: Benzine Gasoline
The PTT/Jiffy which is the first gas station on the road to Nongkhai after the over/underpass sells the 0% methanol benzene from a yellow (not orange) pump that has only the product name in Thai, no numbers. Newer pump stations added '95' to the yellow placard but it's the same stuff. It's still bloody expensive too!
Re: Benzine Gasoline
Looks like you are going to have to put up with 20% ethanol whether you like it or not.
From everything I've read so far, and the reason why Aus hasn't gone that route was, vehicle engines simply not designed for it.
But hell, it's good for the sugar industry so it must be ok.
From December last year so maybe they changed their minds again....???

Re: Benzine Gasoline
The PTT yellow 95 gas is going for about 34 Baht per liter. It might be a penny or so cheaper here or there, but not 6 baht cheaper.
PTT station just past Ngeesoon as you're heading toward Nongbualamphu has Benzene 95, yellow sign.

^ The Lambo's 'n' lawnmowers set, eh?
Re: Benzine Gasoline
All our garden equipment runs on benzene. 12 year old mower, 5 year old mower, 10 and 5 year old hedge trimmers, 4 year old chain saw. Once or twice a year I'll run the gear up to my favorite repair shop in Nongwahsaw for a tuneup/whatever......I've tried to fiddle with the gear myself, but I'm not a gear head so I usually mess things up more than fix. My trusty repair guy at สิงห์การช่าง in NWS has motor oil in his genes......usually 100 baht.
PTT has some advertising on their benzene and diesel with additives. Worth it? At least for my garden equipment, it seems to be
