If you read the posting I made it is talking about percentage rates and not the individual price of items

I read a report alleging that the problem was possibly a Supply Chain glitch in which the suppliers held back pork destined for the Markets to raise prices over the Xmas and New Year periods. so watch the markets, still high today

Doo I've wondered the same thing. Why not run an underground pipeline in the center island of hwy 2/1 all the way up to Nong Khai/Chiang Mai? I figure not enough kickback into open pockets. However, I believe there is a pipeline from the small gas/oil field close to the Ubonrat Dam. Just not sure where it goes.

They would spend half the time repairing it and cleaning up the spills after 40+ ton trucks ran off the road and onto the nice soft topsoil over the pipeline (especially in rainy season)

There used to be a refuelling pipeline just behind Udons railway station, as Tankers used to go there to refuel. Where the Fuel came from IO have no idea, I think is is no longer operational

This is roughly ten days after the Thai government banned all pork exports.

The Phu Horm and Nam Pong gas fields feed a local power station and are not hooked up to any national grid.

Someone commented about the "McDonald's" inflation index.......if the price of a McD goes up in Thailand, it'd probably not get much attention. But when the price of raw papayas goes up, well, that's a headline!

I'm surprised there are not (but maybe I don't see it) lots of repossessed trucks / bikes being sold cheaply and farm land going for a song.

There are several (probably dozens) of repossessed homes in our housing estate up for sale by the bank but the prices are just crazy. They are in a state of disrepair and basically becoming worse by the day, however the banks want 'as new' prices for them. Makes no logical sense to me, but I'm probably missing the point somewhere.

I hear rental prices have dropped and you can get a bargain but not the same for buying. How long can people hold out?

In addition...

Two foreign players in Myanmar's oil and gas business have signaled that they are withdrawing from the offshore Yadana gas field. TotalEnergies was the more significant contributor to the junta's coffers than Chevron and it's taken them almost a year since the coup to position themselves this way.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/totalenergies ... 58270.html

Note that PTTEP (the overseas division of PTT) are the recipient of 70% of the gas from this field, itself making up about 9% of Thailand's needs. Another 5% comes from the PTTEP operated Zawtika field, offshore Myanmar. PTTEP planned to start an appraisal drilling program over Zawtika Q1/2 this year. Not sure how the rig procurement went but twelve companies tendered so business as usual for some.

Thankfully, Thailand's dependence on Myanmar gas has fallen from about 25% around ten tears ago. If Thailand had an epiphany and decided to cease all gas imports from Myanmar, they should be able to address the shortfall primarily with increased LNG imports but the price of LNG has skyrocketed since the appended review as written. Electricity, gas and fuel bills are going to be pretty unpredictable this year regardless if Russia invades Ukraine (they won't).
