Immigration

Post by yorky » July 9, 2005, 1:09 pm

A friend of mine arrived back in Thailand a few days ago and he reports that the immigration processing was a complete shambles - He said that there were passengers from 5 or 6 aircraft milling about, awaiting processing. :(

It would appear thet the Thais have introduced photo processing - like the US, but no fingerprints yet. :(

Does anyone know any more about this proceedure. I'll be there in 13 days and I am not looking forward to a 2 hour wait :x

This was also posted on ThaiVisa forum, but the responses were ambiguous. Guess we'll find out when we get there. I'll be there in 11 days \:D/

What does the procedure involve?

actually it's quite simply, and every time i've arrived it was fast, less than 15-20 minutes. that was always arriving at 10-11 pm. once in the afternoon, but same. hop in line, present passport, collect luggage, then process pass check point, 2 places to go, if you have something to declare, the other, nothing to declare, just walk thru. they stop you, and check, but usually rare. quick and painless unless something has changed, about 10 different times for me, all consistent.

Hi Yorky, I think you were referring to us. We fixed your first post because there were broken tags in it, we then removed them just to make it look better.

Sorry about that,

Admin :D

Yeah, yorky. Someone plagiarized your id in that asia.expat forum. Nerve of some people, eh?

Hopefully, nobody wants to steal mine. Had someone ask me once if it was my porn id. Hope they weren't serious. [-X :fryingpan:

I went into Thailand on 08 July and there were no cameras at immigration in Bangkok. I departed on 15 July and there were cameras at the exit processs - complete with apoligies whilst they 'introduced the new system'

I hearly missed the plane!!

Does anyone have the telephone number for the immigration office in Nong Khai?

We would like to add this number to the next map because we think it could be useful.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Admin

policeman - never, shop assistants maybe, people who are obviously talking about me - nope, not a word (he he let them carry on),
woman selling food and I am hungry - yep 100% fluent ! lol

generally it only comes out when I have no option. the language that is - come on keep it clean !

Let them rattle on and on and then when they are finished I say in Thai, I understood everything you said. The look of shock is priceless.

I got a flyer here with the anouncement, "As from the 1st of March 2006, the Nongkhai Immigration Extension Service Section (Udon Branch) will now be situated on the ground floor of Aek Udon International Hospital. Office Hrs 09.00 AM. - 03.00 PM. Every Monday and Friday"

This is also stated in Thai above the English version of the anouncement.

I have copies here at Pop-Pop's or you can check the AEK UIH and see if they still have more being given out.

Not sure it this for real so just letting you know that there is a flyer out on the reopening of Nongkai Immigration Extension Service Section in AEK Udon International Hospital.
