Last night at 10pm, we had the best, (worst) thunderstorm over us that I have ever experienced in Thailand.
Hundreds of lightning strikes extremely close to us, with thunder rattling the house for more than an hour, (I went to sleep then).
This morning, my rain gauge, (low soi across the road), is fuller than I've ever seen it.
Family were all sh!!ting themselves as usual with a storm.

I loved it.
It's great when nature puts on a show.
And frogs going crazy here too.

I love your weather reports, however what they do say, is that you are alive ..just. You can see and type. The rest is as they say in the lap of the Gods …..lol

Thanks KP

But really do people want or need to hear "we have a 50% chance" (what does that tell us), "It will partially Sunny" So again what is that telling us, "Cloudy with Sunny intervals", Oh what a relief
You dont need a Weatherperson. You know as soon as you wash your car or truck it will rain.\!!!!

Its either
Sunny
Raining
Dark
Cold
Or Hot
LOOK OUT THE DOOR

Have noticed an unusual high Algae content in the rain.
After only a few days of rain my drive is starting to go black.

Also my swimming pool needs lots of chlorine or the water turns green.
Anyone else having problems with swimming pool.

Anyones guess if this years rain is a different kind due to global warming etc .. but this time last year I power washed the paths drive n patio areas with water containing algaecide and it worked , certainly needs doing again when i go back to the house very soon.

I was advised this time of year (start of the rainy season) as well as the chlorinator in the pool house put an extra Chlorine / Algaecide mix tablet in as well .. either via the skimmer basket or floating basket.

Is the algae in the rain? Or is it the combination of rain, surface temp and humidity that causes the green and black stuff to flourish on driveways? I did need to frequently pressure wash the drive at a rental house in Komen City here in Udon but a similarly surfaced drive at the Pattaya rental never needed such attention in the 4 years we were there.

I reckon it's probably chemicals/fertilizers and such sitting around.
When the rain and humidity comes, just makes it bloom , a lot like the green algae problems in dams and waterways in Australia.

I think, once you get rid of it now, you won't see it again until same time next year.

Green algae will begin to grow on cement or concrete when the surface stays constantly damp. Many homes in humid climates are constantly battling algae and fungus growth. Even though algae itself does not damage the structural stability of the cement or concrete, it can still cause troublesome problems. If left untreated, the algae will permanently discolor the cement or concrete. In addition, algae growth is rather slippery and will become a safety hazard when it is allowed to grow on walkways.
A simple, nonflowering, and typically aquatic plant of a large group that includes the seaweeds and many single-celled forms. Algae contain chlorophyll but lack true stems, roots, leaves, and vascular tissue.

Have the same problem.
My theory is some of the algae problem comes from the crap in the air feeding it. It’s been a really dusty season out my way with the irrigation dam adjacent digging and moving thousands of trucks of dirt.
Swept and cleaned the whole drive area this morning using the rain pools from last night. Heaps of dust areas were turning dark quickly last few days.
Thankfully the trucks stop in wet weather so will see.
I know of the dust problem as constantly had to vacuum the pool of fine sediment. But the dust is at times too fine for the sand filter.
Any way, have just had a huge algae problem in the pool as the salt water chlorinator element died. Didn’t notice and less then 48 hours pool cleansing was gone. Pool was so quick to turn green and grow algae. It’s a fine balance keeping the water clean and ph levels within levels. Pool guy is on to it and hit it with 2 kgs of chlorine till he has the pool running again.
One problem which may cause my algae is I have a 10,000 ltr rainwater tank that I use to top the pool water level. My pool guy doing the maintenance has told me not to use the rain water for the pool. It is not clean enough, full of crap in the atmospheres. Advised I should only use the town water tanks for the pool. Town water additionally comes through our house filters.
Hopefully as Mick said some problems will fade away with the dry dust season gone with the rain now here.
