Plywood sheet standard sizes

Post by tamada » September 15, 2020, 10:53 am

I need to make a couple of things for the home from plywood. Can anyone advise what the standard, stock, off-the-rack sheet of plywood's dimensions are? I want to work out if I can get by with one or need to buy two sheets.

No problems getting it from Global or DoHome or wherever, just need to know the sizes. However, if anyone knows a shop with a 'special' on plywood right now, my inner Jockinese will appreciate it.

Global House website will help, I've bought 8 x 4 (1220 x 2440) and 1200 x 2400 depending on where it has been sourced.
Different grades/timber species/thickness available depending on the purpose.
Best to shop around as prices vary.

Thanks KP, dr and BRD... one sheet fits all! A new base for the young 'uns crib and a backboard for the oldest's basketball hoop.

You have the sizes above. Plywood is priced by quality, there are no bargains in plywood, if you pay a low price you get a low quality. You will have voids, overlaps, uneven thickness, micron thin surface veneers with patches. So far I haven’t found a supplier in Udon that has the quality I want. The only caveat is that Global House, DoHome, Thai Watsadu etc. don’t have good grade plywood (that I’ve ever found) they have lots of plywood for different purposes but nothing for furniture.

I’ve just bought 3 x 20mm boards A grade (it doesn’t have those features) they are from a specialist wood shop in KK they were just over 1,000 each. I also have teak plywood that is about 4,500 per sheet.

If anyone has found A grade 20mm of 15mm in Udon I would be pleased to know exactly where (map reference) and how much.

"A" grade 20mm Plywood for a 1000bht? Sounds like you found a bargain.
