Where to advertise for English tutoring/ camps?

Post by Mandy » November 19, 2014, 10:23 am

Hi,

I'm a TEFL Qualified and experienced teacher that's just moved to udon. I'm looking to run some evening & weekend tuition classes for kids and adults. I have experience running camps and once I have a location sorted, will want to advertise for those too.

Any advice?

Thanks

Mandy

Word of mouth works the best, but only if you have a WORK PERMIT otherwise your stay could be short lived

Lol! I'm not Thai or male. I've signed up via my iPhone and it must have automatically set my profile that way. I'm a female from the UK.

Do I need a work permit to tutor? Because a lot of my friends have been tutoring privately and they just have their non-b visa from schools.

Mandy the advice from Khun Paul is of paramount importance re: work permit, some people may get away with it for a while but if found out, well one can only guess the outcome, good luck Dezzer.

B Visa entitles the holder to obtain a work permit, in days of yore work permits were granted and you could work almost anywhere, however NOW the work permit issued by a school entitles you to work at the school , noit tout around and cleect students lieik confetti, however having said that many teaches do have a sideline of private tutoring but students are by word of mouth certainly NOT advertising. many students will come from the schools they teach in, therefore one has to ask the question , surely the standard of teaching is not good enough. having been a teracher here for sopme years, my private students do NOT come from the school I am at, and never will be.
Mandy you take your chance and do whatever you will, I am sure your friends are a wonderfuil source of information, learn from the advice given, working without a valid work permit is now a recipe for a major immigration problem let alone a employment problem, if you are unsure about what you can or can not do, ask the employment office and the immigration, they will give you the correct advice for you to saty legal in Thailand, not staying legal is a very expensive and uncomfortable option.
But you are over 21 and capable of making up your own mind. Think before acting.

Sorry  There was a gentleman named Ray in our place last week that I thought was doing the post, but on second thought he did say he was targeting management level employees of big corporations like Big C and Tesco.
