Semper
You are certainly living in another time
Why is the USA the only country that has has massacres using Guns?

The situation WILL IMPROVE in our life time if something logical is done about it. Its just that the Politicians in the USA dont want to do anything about it
The only thing that people can do is to prepare themselves for the next needless slaughter of citizens in the USA
Have to agree with Doodoo, Semper Fi Guy. How does the ownership of war weapons sit beside your God Fearing, Jesus is our Saviour, Christian beliefs.
We had a mass shooting of school kids and teachers in a small town called Dunblane in Scotland many years ago, virtually instantly license's to own pistols and high powered rifles were cancelled in the UK and extremely stringent guidelines for owning shotguns were brought in. All banned/unlicensed weapons had to be handed in with the threat of imprisonment for failing to do so. Result? No mass killings in the UK since these laws were enacted. I believe Australia also did something similar after a mass shooting down there with similar results.
Surely you cannot condone the selling of high powered war weapons, large capacity magazines, many hundreds of rounds of military grade ammunition and body armour to a walk in 18 year old without the most stringent of background checks? It just seems that lots of Americans cherry pick between their stated religious beliefs and laws that were written nearly 300 years ago for totally different reasons than those that exist today.

Must be tough for those poor souls at times - having to choose between a 3400 year old document (bible), and a 250 year old document (constitution). :?

so many stupid reasons given for not getting rid of them the excuse that there is just too many of them is a joke. you don't have to get rid of guns, get rid of the bullets , ban ammunition . they'll run out of it sooner or later. i wonder too, does the constitution cover rights to something that never existed when it was written ? . or if you still want guns then change the caliber making the 300,000,000 guns floating around obsolete , then just sell guns with biometric finger identification . guns would be safer as they could only be sold back to the manufacture, no one could steal them as they would be useless , kids wouldn't be accidently killing themselves, no one could use your gun except you. just a few ideas of how to make guns themselves safer.

One of the best solutions I have read Dean, unfortunately many gun owners in the Good Old USofA make their own ammo and it would become a small local cottage industry everywhere because of their desperation to be able to own and use war fighting weapons.

How might they help? The American police arrest the troublesome parents at the perimeter while the Brits charge in guns blazing?

I struggle to see the Americans ever significantly reducing the number of firearms in the US.

Your comments are getting pretty old

Still doesnt change the point 231 years and nothing has changed. All that will change is that the shooting will be somewhere else

According to the latest national census there has been a dramatic change in the past couple hundred or so years. Are you suggesting that the current makeup of United States citizens are not civilized (civilised)? I suppose demographics are of no significance in your simplistic assumption.

2020 U.S. Census, including extra category for Latino / Hispanic[15]
Self-identified race and ethnicity Percent of population

Non-Hispanic White
57.8%

Hispanic and Latino (of any race)
 18.7%

Black or African American
 12.1%

Asian
 5.9%

Two or more races
 4.1%

Native Americans and Alaska Natives
 0.7%

Some other race
 0.5%

Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders
 0.2%

AS for the name calling it reminds me of the school yards that we all attended and the small boys who would shout at others to intimidate them
In the end I really dont care
