"Sadly, the trend of fatal police shootings in the United States seems to only be increasing, with a total 213 civilians having been shot, 30 of whom were Black, in the first three months of 2021."glalt wrote: ↑April 13, 2021, 11:33 amDefund the police? Make the police afraid to do their jobs?
Through just four months this year, nearly 100 police officers have been killed in the line of duty ... You won't likely see widespread demonstrations for these fallen officers. You won't see much outrage from the media mob either if they even report it. Aside from a few local reports, you probably won't even see their names anywhere. Instead, police face widespread vilification and harrassment and now defunding in nearly every major city in this country.
That's cops (nearly) = 100 versus Joe Public (of all ethnicities) = 213.
Winning!

Another thread trashed by non topic crap.
Some just can’t help themselves responding of topic with long winded answers.

Long winded responses.....do you mean debunking false claims?
What bothers you most, the off topic post or the responses?

Agree Barney .. just how Why do you stay in Thailand has morphed into US cops killings is head shaking .. by all means if one wishes to debate it great (not my cuppa tea) just on the correct thread ..aint rocket science is it ?
Back on topic .. going over in my mind the things i like about living here againsnt things i dislike when compared to my nation of birth .. Thailand came out on top by quite some margin.

Re: Why do you stay in Thailand?
There is a sense for me, when I am in Thailand, whether it be in Udon Thani, Pattaya and maybe a little bit less than when in Bangkok, that any "Urgency to do something" is really what you make, it at the time.
By all means wake up with a Plan to do X for the Day, (as I occasionally do), but if you only do X - 40% that day, then feel free to do the other 40% the next day if you choose.
Call it lifestyle pressure, but what what I like most about a typical day in Thailand is that is just feels more serene, compared to other places, certainly compared to day at Work, where you fell a sense of pressure to do every thing in that one single day. That feeling of less expectation for me when in Thailand, is an absolute relief. It may be different for others who live in Thailand full time.
Another, is "Less Aggravation", excluding this Forum. You don't come across much aggravation in Thailand, or I don't.. You don't see a lot of it on the road, unless you are someone who is easily annoyed or frustrated. Where I am the instant tooting of car horns at traffic lights, the cutting off when changing lanes just to get that space, etc. is an every day challenge, with the absolute lunatics' on the Road, all fighting for space for no other reason that wanting to go nowhere faster. (if that makes sense) But they all still do it.
Driving in Thailand can be frustrating if you let it be, but to me it is much more pleasant.. Just the way I see it

Re: Why do you stay in Thailand?
DM,
I read the election correctly, you were way off the mark, but I need an evaluation? For being right? For not agreeing with your fantasy. Biden has shown he is not a dribbling fool, Harris has shown no signs of being the President with Biden as a puppet, that was your fanciful thought. So to date you and I disagree on two points, in both cases you read it wrong.
Build a bridge and cross it or do you want more opportunities to look like a deluded fool?
