Word here is that the Taliban has asked the U.S. to send jets to bomb ISIS. I can't read the article as I have reached the limit of free articles,

That's true,I have not been paying attention to the print media. Most of what I have heard lately originates on radio talk shows in which the host interviews various former Canadian officers who served in Afghanistan and are upset that the Government (Canadian) did not make plans earlier to evacuate Afghan interpreters and agents out of the country before Kabul fell. The Government had been warned of what was going to happen about six months and were caught with their pants down. Now these Canadian 'friends' are in deep doodoo as they can't get out of Afghanistan.

Good read here on the enmity between the Taliban and Daesh and how it was frequently beneficial to and used by the occupying coalition forces.

I wonder how they are weeding out the Afghans who simply want to get out of that sh*t hole. I don't blame those people but I'm sure there are more deserving people who will be overlooked and stuck in the country.
Apparently they are relying on the Taliban to do the bulk of the airport "check-in" security screening.

"During a news conference after Thursday’s attack, Marine Corps Gen. Frank McKenzie, commander of U.S. Central Command, said the U.S. was relying on the Taliban to screen Afghans as they approached the airport.

“We use the Taliban as a tool to protect us as much as possible,” he said. ..."

very sad stan, the worst part is that they were actually trying to save lives, they didn't go there to shoot/bomb anyone ,just help people.

The sooner we are out and finished, the sooner the various factions will start killing each other. Many of the various tribes hate each other as it has always been.

And they will provide safe haven to terrorists who will train and export their fare to Westerners whom they despise.

The British Forces and the diplomatic staff have gone, possibly the most successful British evacuation since May 1940. The US has, of course, more recent experience in South-East Asia. You can't count Tehran as successful, turned into a bit of a bugger's muddle.

"Britain's defence minister, Ben Wallace, has said around 1,000 people who were eligible to come to Britain, including former staff to the British, were unlikely to get out."

^ There's a difference between "British Forces and the diplomatic staff" and "people who are eligible to come to Britain, including former staff to the British."

Hope this helps.

I know, Buddy, they were reporting in the Mail Online this morning that there are still around 100 to 150 Brits on the ground over there.

The terrorist from 9/11 were Saudis ,trained in the USA. Afghanistan had no commercial pilot training. If you consider that outside the middle east and Africa terrorist attacks count for only 0.01% of deaths then spending trillions was overkill. Its only now that america realises domestic terrorist are the real issue.

Good to see the US using the ever increasing drone style of postal delivery.
