importing a scooter

hi all,
just wondering if any of you have imported a motor bike into thailand,i have an old lambretta which i have fully restored from a wreck.thinking of touring thailand on it later this year but no idea how to import it.how long it would take etc.its coming from uk if it makes any difference in the import/export laws
any help on subject would be brill.

try this for a start

plus you could do what my friend in the uk does get a frame number and docs out in thailand then send all the bits as spares seconhand bang them on the frame our your frame registed already and a lot cheaper very easy to do with a scooter

Suggest you also look at the import taxes on imported vehicles - there are some horror stories about Thai Customs.

An alternative may be to talk with your local Automobile Club (? AAA) about getting a 12 month Carnet to cover the scooter.

Google carnet if you are not sure what they are about.
