Waz, let them have all the drugs they want in any sport, after they Fxxk up, the younger ones may see that drugs doing untold damage on their hero's and hopefully will veer off them.
As for State of Origin, their will be the usual checks for the NSW Blues but not for the Qld Maroons lol.

It's not about winning wazza, it is being invited and the taking part that is important. Being from tazzie you should know that.wazza wrote:Who has won more ?
But to be honest Qld have won more series victories than NSW.
And to provide a completely sit on the fence unbiased opinion I will explain the beginnings.
Even though the Qld vs NSW game has been played for over a hundred years the SOO series concept actually began under that SOO name in 1980, bought about simply because the Qld'ers whined and moaned so much that NSW elected to put the oil on the squeaky wheel and participated just to allow Qld to get that warm feeling and gain some credibility as a real part of Australia. It was more of a exhibition attempt and gave the Qld footballers a reason to exist. NSW didn't really want to go up north from the premier state as the airports up north had barely introduced asphalt runways in 1980 and were far from reaching a standard we from the south were used to. The name cane toad was introduced as a description because it was the description you would give you annoying little brother, "an uncontrollable pest". They understood the real meaning much later and tried to gain a silver medal in name calling by calling us cockroaches.
The game became a huge money spinner for NSW so we have continued to participate plus rake in the money to keep the northern wheel from squeaking. Us having a footy ground that can hold 80,000 plus helps us win the money battle each series whether we win or not. There you have it.

No problems there Barney, hard stuff for 80 minutes, no giving up from either side. They endure the hard yards for 2 halves for 80 minutes, they are so tough that they do not need quarter intervals like other games.
I like the 2nd part of the youtube video, lol.

I love both codes Sport, having played AFL and arrived in NRL territory at an age that would not have been wise to learn and apply the tricks of the trade of league. As an observer, who loves the physicality of league it is time to abandon the the futility of the scrum. "One man trying to push two men's heads up three men's arseholes" is an archaic look and needs to change to compete with the excitement offered by AFL. Sadly for AFL, with the drive to sanitise the games physicality, it has earned the title of outdoor basketball in some quarters and rightly so.
As for SOO on Wednesday, the blues have selected a very well balanced team and hopefully the introduction of new blood will lift them over the line in hostile territory. Go the blues.

NRL S.O.O. Game 1, LIONS TOUR OF NZ -Jingjoes AUSSIE BAR
Tony I agree, do away with the scrum in NRL, a waste of time imo.
The LIONS tour of New Zealand starts this Saturday 3 June. ALL GAMES on this tour kick off at 2.30pm Thailand time LIVE.
First game Saturday, the NZ Barbarians play host at Whangarei, Toll Stadium.
Second game, Wed 7 June, the Blues host the LIONS at the voodoo ground of Eden Park, Auckland.
We will keep you posted of further games.

Almost could construed as a veiled attempt to throw nonsense at our game, plenty of snipers around Eh Wazza.
Correct the scrum has become a bad look but it is part of the game and allows different tactics to be employed with less players in the movements. It will stay.
Tony you have made one mistake about AFL, I have never heard it called "outdoor basketball", it has always been known as "Cross Country Ballet"
I follow both games and I do like AFL, but I love my rugby league. Having played the game from a young age for 15 years I can see the difficulty for some in understanding the game, those whom did not have the opportunity to run on the paddock and gain an insight into the different tactics for each position and the team as a whole plus the toughness that is required to get the ball over the try line.
That toughness and tactics will be on show in the representative game tomorrow night in SOO. Something that the AFL cannot aspire to having no representative games.
GO the blues to finally rest the trophy from the canetoads from the north.

Barney has cabin fever in the Land of Bacon and Beers.
Its the only time in the winter season when SoO games draw decent crowds and perhaps even beat an AFL weekend game attendance.
