The Historic Impeachment Trial of Trump

Post by jackspratt » January 16, 2020, 5:02 pm

And so it begins.

I thought it was worth starting a new thread to focus on the comings and goings of the Senate over the next couple of weeks, as they try to nail Trump to the wall. Best of luck to them, and godspeed.

In the meantime, new evidence from one of Giuliani's henchmen can't be good news for the Garrulous Glowing Galoot:
Trump 'knew exactly what was going on' in Ukraine, says Giuliani associate

.......Parnas also said other members of the Trump administration knew about the Ukraine pressure campaign. William Barr, the attorney general, “was basically on the team”, Parnas said. And the former national security adviser John Bolton, who recently indicated he would testify in the Senate impeachment trial if he was subpoenaed, also “100%” knew about the scheme, Parnas said........

If you're into podcasts, you can listen to today's interview with Rachel Maddow and Parnas at https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0c ... IARAE&ep=6

The interview continues tomorrow.

Thanks parrot.

If the guy stands up as being legit, he certainly throws some incendiary bombs at the credibility (and I use that word with extreme caution) about the entire Trump administration, including Pence, Barr and Giuliani, plus Devon Nunes in the House.

Hey ho, hey ho, it's off to work they go. \:D/

President Trump will not be impeached because he has done nothing to be impeached for. His mistakes are miniscule compared to many others in the past and present. The demorats are desperate because they can not beat him in an election so after trying everything else to discredit him their last resort is a pathetic attempt at impeachment. Like him or not he has done more for the U.S. than anyone including hammering out much better trade deals with Canada and Mexico and now with China.

Just to clarify, again, the Trumpster has been impeached, but will not be convicted by the senate. Plus dought he did much, other then tweet his ass off, to "hammer out" any trade deals, for once he let the experts do their job.

Yes he has been impeached ,the trial is a separate matter. One thing is strange is the senate all have to sware on oath to be impartial. Shows they don't take seriously the oath the give, more lying politics

The demorats are trying to impeach him, they have not succeeded and will not. It is similar to being accused or charged, innocent until proven guilty. They are accusing him of abusing his powers, means nothing until it is proven and he is removed from office.

Guess someone needs to read up on what Impeachment is, as has already happened.

The way I understand it if your impeached then you have been found guilty already, the senate trial is about what exactly will be done about it . The senate trial is all about the punishment ,as they have already said the fat orange guy has a rigged jury he obviously won't be forced out ,but the impeachment still stands

Impeachment in the House is like a Grand Jury, decides if enough evidence to go to trial. Then Senate acts like a Jury, with some members of the House acting as prosecutors. Requires two thirds members of Senate to convict.

Another inconvenient snippet to add to the post-impeachment (yes he has been), pre-trial mountain of evidence against the BOB:
White House ‘broke law’ by withholding Ukraine aid, report finds

The Trump administration has been found to have broken federal law by freezing millions of dollars of congressionally approved aid to Ukraine last year.

That’s according to a top government watchdog which deemed the White House had no right to withhold $US250 million ($361 million) in security assistance to Ukraine – the issue at the centre of Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) said the Ukraine funding freeze ordered just hours after Mr Trump’s infamous call with then-president-elect Volodymyr Zelensky had violated the so-called Impoundment Control Act.......

Yep, and as expected, the OMB, partisan, headed by Mick Mulvaney, is claiming the GAO, nonpartisan, findings are wrong.

The only remedy available to the GAO is to sue for release of the funds. Since the funds were released it is a mute point. The request for investigation was done by a Democrat month since ago. If suit had been filed by the GAO it could be litigated and thus tied up for months. Just another example of the partisan battle going on in DC. Lots of smoke very little fire

Is that why they tried to keep it quiet?

Only in US could admitting being guilty of an offense on National TV be considered as anything other than "enough evidence" :-k
