It just seems that "Ol' Joe" sticks his foot in his mouth every time he does one of his podcasts and I"m sure they're scripted.... I can't see him faring very well against Trump in a face-to-face debate battle..

I could imagine Trump pulling that one with, "I know that [insert name of world-renowned global viral specialist here] is a a great guy, but I think Jared brings the something extra we need to the Covid-19 warfare team. I mean, he's f*cking my hot daughter already so he's gotta be good, huh?"

Maybe the key will be in his chosen running mate? They have had some doofuses (and doozy's) from past presidents selections including Mondale and Quayle. Notable that of all the previous VP's of our generation that became POTUS's, none of them made really very good ones while some were an outright disaster and liability.

The hot pick has got to be a woman, preferably with an undeniable chunk of ethnic or racial difference. According to CNN (I know, I know...) the top 10 looks like this with Kamala Harris taking the biscuit. With proven African American and Indian American heritage, she's gonna confuse and annoy the hell outta Donny 'Three Tests' John Trump. Just for pushing his buttons, she would get my nod.

How many charges are now in play, 91. Given the indightments, published charged sheets and witnesses that have flipped, he is going to be convicted on a lot of these. Some will not carry big penalties but the Georgia case, the stolen documents and incitement for rebellion are likely to lead to jail terms. Even if he is elected and attempts to pardon himself, the Georgia case is immune from presidential pardon.

So his tactics, bluster, delay, whipping up MAGA support, intimidation etc is all that his left. There is little he can do from a legal point apart from delay and drag out appeals.

I expect the shrill public performances will increase in intensity. The only think to keep him out of the clink now is a massive stroke or heart attack that renders him incapable of defending himself so charges will be dropped and/or sentences suspended on health grounds.

Considering his age and obesity, the strain on him is incredible, he might crack.

Awful lot of yelling and table pounding going on. I'd say he's pretty screwed. Whether or not the US Justice system is actually prepared to lock up a former President isn't a wager I'd care to take either side of.

That said, people don't seem to realize that the New York trial (where all the current table pounding happening) is at this point only about the minor/secondary charges. He's already lost far and away the most important part of the trial. Regardless of whether he's remanded or not, the procedure for seizing his businesses and stripping him of his assets has already been set in motion. In prison or the White House or not, this thing will end with him being broke.

A broke man can become a desperate man. It's in the hands of the GOP if they'll allow him to continue portraying himself as the perpetual victim and martyr to some fanciful claim of America's omnipotence. If the American legal system has the intestinal fortitude to seriously punish a former leader, it will do far more for their global PR which is pretty rubbish at the moment.
