The Brexit-supporting hotelier said the “whole point” of Brexit is to get out of the European Union out and not have everything “controlled” by Brussels. The default position will be for the UK to leave the EU without a deal at 11pm on March 29, if Prime Minister Theresa May and the EU are unable to strike a deal that is acceptable to the British Parliament. Speaking on BBC’s Any Questions, Sir Rocco insisted a no deal Brexit would be great for Britain. He said: “If you look at the reality – 94 percent of businesses in this country, which represents most of the employment in this country, are not involved with trading with Europe.
“Only 5 percent of GDP is involved in cross-border trade across Europe. 55 percent of our trade is with the outside world. There are no queues of lorries. There is no friction at borders.
“A lot of the just-in-time manufacturing is done with goods coming in from other parts of the world.
“The United States, China, sell much more into the European Union than we do under WTO rules. So there is no problem trading under WTO rules.
“This pinch point at Dover and Calais, we have heard from the head of the port of Calais and the head of the port of Dover and they have said there will be no problem.”
