^^ Just been to Global where all I wanted two taps, half-a-dozen half-inch pvc pipe couplings and a tin of pipe dope. The eager beaver staffer at the door brought me a rainshower, a fake George Forman grill and a packet of grout.

Getting there.

Cant help with the taps , but got the couplings and glue if it helps .
You probably know this already , but others may not .
If you run a bit of sandpaper over the pipe and fittings before glueing , you will get a stronger bond .

Use google images so they can say 'no have'.
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

Just come back from the Big C superstore in Ban Dung, and they may be preparing to shut it down (unconfirmed at this stage).

- large sections of the store taped off, with only food, bathroom, papergoods and laundry areas open.

- many of the smaller (non food) shops eg True, DTAC, phone shops etc were shuttering as I left

- the 4 Mitsubishi vehicles which were on display when I arrived were gone by the time I left 30 minutes later.

:-k

With sectioning the store off why would you think the store is preparing to shutdown? Makro is going through the same thing. Only food items are being offered All sections of alliances, chairs etc are sectioned off and not for sale

They keep their SUPERMARKET section open. Supermarkets are allowed to continue their business while most other type of retails must shut down. This s what you see at Central Plaza Udon.

This is in Chiang Mai, maybe Udon Thani will follow...

His announcement that certain supermarket and shopping mall zones would be closed from today until April 13 resulted in many people rushing out to buy food supplies and groceries.

Just seen an interview with the mayor of Bergamo the epicentre in Italy.
Says he cannot believe the lack of concern in UK
So worried at UK response that he has got his 2 daughters back from school (Canterbury/Taunton) because they were safer in Bergamo

Emirates has now suspended all flights from Wednesday....
In these desperate times it may be of comfort to know that you can still have a good night out at the Pullman Raja Orchid Khon Kaen.

Bakery 30% off from 7pm.
Even an elderly British Government pensioner could afford these prices and relax in comfort :D

I read that Commie doctors and nurses from Cuba with experience in dealing with Ebola have gone to Italy to help the Italians. Hopefully the Commies will be able to help the Americans, if needed, too.
I worked in Cuba for the best part of 2 years back in 1994. Their public health care system sh!ts all over the UK's over-hyped NHS and that's despite the US-led embargo. Even my Italian hooker room mate got her weekly clap checks for free.

Was a bit a bugger queuing for chooks and flour though.

A post from another thread from tinpeeba, I think it’s an important read.

How corona virus can overtake your body before you know it.

Most governments are advocating a 2 meter distance between people to avoid the transmission of the virus, sound advice IMO.

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/amp/202 ... ction.html
Except Thailand where they are advocating ONE Metre. Go figure

This sounds a bit ominous.

To me it sounds as if there is a genuine attempt to reduce the speed of the spread. I don’t think it’s going to catch all but it does no harm to try.

Pope Francis Says He Asked God To Stop Coronavirus With His Hand

From Newsweek
By Brendan Cole

Pope Francis has said that he asked for divine intervention in the coronavirus pandemic and called on people to use these troubled times to get closer to their loved ones.

The head of the Catholic Church has mostly been restricted to the walled confines of the Vatican and since the national lockdown in Italy was imposed on March 9, has been live-streaming his daily mass from his Santa Marta residence, Catholic news service Crux Now reported.

On Sunday, he left the Vatican and went to the centre of a deserted Rome to pray at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major [Santa Maria Maggiore]. He then walked along the Via del Corso to reach the church of San Marcello al Corso, which is home to a crucifix venerated by the Catholic faithful and was carried throughout the Italian capital in 1522 to ward off the Great Plague, Vatican News reported.

When asked by La Repubblica journalist Paolo Rodari what he prayed for at the two churches, the pontiff replied: "I asked the Lord to stop the epidemic: Lord, stop it with your hand. That's what I prayed for."

The pope also said that with many people now at home, it provided an opportunity for people to carry out "small, concrete gestures" to loved ones, such as a "caress for our grandparents, a kiss for our children, for the people we love. These are important, decisive gestures. If we live these days like this, they won't be wasted," he said.

"Sometimes, we only experience a virtual form of communication with one another. Instead, we should discover a new closeness. More concrete relationships made of attention and patience. This language made of concrete gestures must be safeguarded. In my opinion, the pain of these days should open us up to this concreteness," the pope said.

Earlier in March, the 83-year-old tested negative for the coronavirus, after he was seen coughing and blowing his nose during a service on Ash Wednesday, which signifies the start of Lent for Christians. In a sermon, he called on his clergy to show their support and solidarity for the medical workers dealing with the pandemic.

He reiterated his support for medical workers, telling La Repubblica, "I thank those who give themselves in this way to others. They are an example of this concreteness."

"And I ask everyone to stay close to those who have lost loved ones, to be close to them in every possible way. Consolation must now be everyone's commitment." Newsweek has contacted the Vatican for further comment.

The pope celebrated a mass in the Casa Santa Marta chapel on Wednesday morning, during which he prayed for those whom the virus had killed and "for health care providers who have given their life in service for the sick," according to the Vatican News.
