We are able to strike our own trade deals, while we are still a part of the single market we are free to trade elsewhere.

The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

Insofar as the PPE It depends who you believe, there’s no guessing which way your loyalties lie Stats, all I do know is the UK has the biggest critical care unit in the world and the EU can’t even keep pace with the requirements of Spain, Italy and Greece but I suppose Germany is okay, no one is denying we need more PPE though.

I think the UK and many other western governments have spectacularly failed to protect their citizens and that the history books will be very harsh about this. The threat of pandemics was well known. There was time to respond well to corina 19. South Korea shows that.
The Americans are kind of excused because they have Trump who is widely recognized outside the Fox News bubble as a f ... moron. Even if the rest of the American government was awesomely prepared, he'd duff it.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests, 10 days after testing positive for coronavirus, Downing Street has said.
Mr Johnson "continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus", a spokeswoman said.
It was described as a "precautionary step" taken on the advice of his doctor.

Yesterday was the first day since March 14th that the increase In deaths has dropped into a single digit percentage. This is not good news just less bad.

Nor from me either, the Chinese are 100% to blame here and I agree with Chuchi that the WHO have handled this very badly

The British government is responsible for protecting British residents from pandemics. The Singaporean government is responsible for protecting its residents from pandemics. The Singaporeans seem to have been very well prepared. Why weren't other governments?
Many of them have let their residents down very very badly. We must be better prepared for the next pandemic. This won't be the last one.

Perhaps Trump should hold a national day of sin. The prayer stunt doesn't seem to have worked.

But why would we ask the EU for help, we are way ahead of the game and they can’t even support Italy, Spain and Greece so why would they support a non EU country even if they were

Re: U.K. going on lockdown, USA stopping restricting movement. WTF
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... y-predictsWorld-leading disease data analysts have projected that the UK will become the country worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic in Europe, accounting for more than 40% of total deaths across the continent.
The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) in Seattle predicts 66,000 UK deaths from Covid-19 by August, with a peak of nearly 3,000 a day, based on a steep climb in daily deaths early in the outbreak.
Neil Ferguson, of Imperial College London, thinks the figures are wrong. Let's hope so. Nevertheless something seems to have gone wrong at the science - politics interface in the UK. This didn't happen in some other first world countries.
No doubt once we have all been through the current crisis there will be in depth investigations to determine what might be done better. That will involve considering what happened in other countries that got through the pandemic better.
