Look it up
I did - SFA.

Perhaps you and noos can get your heads together, and provide a link.

That is the normal thing to do.

Scott Morrison did not act quickly enough to prevent the most serious problems arising out of the coronavirus pandemic, Opposition leader Anthony Albanese says.
In an exclusive interview with NCA NewsWire, Mr Albanese accuses the prime minister of being “complacent”.

“If you look at all of the measures that have been put in place, they were put in place later than they should have been,” Mr Albanese says.

“We stopped people coming from China but they were still coming in from the US and other countries.

“They were still coming in and not even being subject to a temperature test and spreading it around.

“You had the Ruby Princess with people spreading it around.

“I raised with Scott Morrison very directly the issue of people coming through Sydney airport, Melbourne airport, and not only not having quarantined but not having anything at all — no check, no anything.

^ Swap Morrison with Johnson, Albanese with Starmer and Australia with the UK and you have the same small-minded political gamesmanship. Both governments have been guilty of some serious missteps in Covid mitigation and both opposition parties have some thoroughly amazing 20/20 hindsight but offer very little of anything more effective such as Wuhan's mass lockdown or Korea's personally invasive track and trace system.

Thanks noos.

Seems pretty straight forward thing to do for a leader of the opposition to hold the government to account.

A couple of other quotes from the article:
“I raised with Scott Morrison very directly the issue of people coming through Sydney airport, Melbourne airport, and not only not having quarantined but not having anything at all — no check, no anything.

“It was more difficult to get into some of the cafes in my electorate (with) temperature testing before you came in. But coming in from overseas? Nothing.”
However, it is aged care that Mr Albanese says has suffered the “most drastic failing” of the pandemic.
Mr Albanese says the government’s decision to increase the JobSeeker payment – formerly Newstart – before introducing the $1500 JobKeeper payment led to employees being laid off.

He does, however, give credit to Mr Morrison for eventually implementing the $86 billion program.

“It has kept the relationship between employees and employers,” Mr Albanese says.

“The fact that the government has dropped some of their anti-union positioning and be prepared to actually talk to unions as well as employers has been a good thing.”

What options do "oppositions" have when it comes to taking any direct action during a pandemic?

^ The same options prevail. They can decide to work with the government as Starmer promised to do on his first address of the UK parliament as Labour's new leader. Or, they can nip at the heels of Johnson and the Tories indifferent, ineffective and scatological management of a major public health crisis.

When a government decides it doesn't need help as Johnson's appears to have done, the opposition focusses on garnering the support of the governing party's increasingly disaffected membership and force legislation of any edicts that the seated government would prefer to enact unopposed.

Johnson won a handy parliamentary majority based on the Brexit debacle. Not being up to speed on Australian voting, how did Morrison do at the last polls? Was a win through his party's strength and desirability or was it more about the opposition's weaknesses?

Albanese has had plenty to say in Parliament about the government's pandemic-related shortcomings - particularly regarding the aged care situation.

You wouldn't really expect News Corpse publications to be reporting on this, unlike the News interview you have quoted.

A pathetic example of bulls..t bureaucracy and poor decision making by the Queensland Premier. She (Annastacia Palaszczuk) should be ashamed of herself. The Queensland Health Minister (GH) appears to have a brain, but she doesn't. One can only hope they boot the Cow out of Office at the next election, in seven weeks time. :-k

The daughter was in quarantine, so obviously tested and showing no signs of having Covid 19 and also having traveled from a low risk city. They (Gov Health Officials) could have suited her up (Hazmat style) and kept her at a safe distance form others at the funeral, so where was the Risk. [-(

Do it for one and a dozen more are lined up with similar requests.
Before you know it, the whole State will be finding some reason for exemption.
Can you imagine the cost..? I think not.

The question really is why someone from ACT needs 14 days quarantine
When ACT is virus free
Bluejets is correct
New Zealand prove that all and sundry applying for exceptions

In case the Qld PM hasn't noticed, the "politics of division" she refers to, like she's had some sort of epiphany, is the name of the game these days. But I reckon she's fully aware of that already as she's playing that game quite manfully. Can we even say things like that these days?

Locking the borders, any border, is a futile exercise in pandemic control and well beyond its use-by date. Politicians and governments in all nations are extolling the virtues of their Covid-19 policies based on science. For the most part, this is an un-debated, secret and hidden "we know best what's good for you" sort of science. The arbitrary "rule of 6" that England will start enforcing from Monday already has been modified or diluted by legislature's in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, any of which is a short, unrestricted drive or ferry boat ride from the strictures of "rule of 6" England.

But back to Australia, some states have taken it upon themselves to make unbreakable rules that aren't only anti-social but anti-societal. The suggestion if they allowed this girl to attend her father's funeral would unlock a flood gate of similar claimants is as laughable as the Qld SHO's fear she will either infect or he infected by family members. This SHO even rescinded the travel permit and wanted the girl to leave the state immediately because her father's passing invalidated the permit. Did the ACT health authorities suggest she would need to quarantine on returning from that poxed northern state?

Despite being an atrocious decision bereft of empathy, it is an admission that these Australian state governments, like many national governments, are not really trying hard enough and share a failure to see that one-size does not and can not fit-all.

The truth is the failure of lots of governments to do the right thing once they have imposed their own lockdown rules
There should be no exception to the rules what every they are
and i know some are over the top
Next election time will see booting left and right
Deservedly as well

In the state with the hardest lock-down, the Premier has the support of 90%+ of the population.

I don't think he will be going anywhere next March, when the election must be held.
