It is not only the mask. Also how to use/fit it. Some good masks are not good for all of us. This is from one analysis made by 3 specialists. They should be trained to use masks and still same 3M 9001V mask is very good or only avarage. Mask itself works same way, but fit test makes difference. If one can not fit mask on face, there will be cap.

Please remember that 3M 9001V itself blocks about 95% of particles. Problem is that gaps between face and mask are sometimes too big. Same with surgical mask. It is ok, but because very difficult to fit, it leaks too much.

And then the sad story. They say that COVID can transmit through eyes and ears. So, good to have a mask.

I have a big clear plastic bag. Air can come in where it ends around the chest area. It's going over my head while at immigration this month.
With a large elastic band around the opening it will be perfect and you will be guaranteed to never catch, or pass on, the virus

I share your opinion. Just read from somewhere that ears COULD be a way. Anyway whatever you do, it is not perfect.

Just have seen some videos related to gloves and how one can use those really bad way. I fully agree. Having everything on and then take off. Order and washing hands and again order and washing hands etc...

Like have a t-shirt, take it away, wash hands and take mask off. Change order and washing hands and mask are both useless -at least mostly. It is just a combination of small things to remember. But SO difficult.

Yes you can get through the eyes if you touch with contaminated hands, but with nose and mouth you pull it in from the air around you if present. Thats the reason for masks to cover mouth and nose and hand washing for eyes, mouth and nose.

It's sort of akin to wearing a t-shirt in public. To the best of knowledge, there's no law that says you must wear one. But if the general Thai public wears one when out and about, then so should expats. Memories of seeing a beer bellied forei9 in the old Complex sans t-shirt. Because I live in the jungle (when I'm in Thailand), I take outdoor showers and work in the yard without a t-shirt. But when in in town, I'm in long pants and shoes and a polo shirt. I have no desire to be associated with the beach crowd in Udon. Likewise with masks. If the majority of locals are in burkas, then I'll follow suit. It's the price you pay for living in a foreign country

I wear one when out , except in the car where the pollen filters work better than any mask , if they are changed and not 5 years old .
Out in public , yes , as its the responsible thing to do .
However i tend to touch my face more wearing a mask than i usually do because it annoys the hell out of me .

I lived for a few years in Dubai, never had the urge to wear a Burka. Have to admit there are a few who need to start to cover up. Scaring the children guys.

That's it in a nutshell. Following the rules during current circumstances is simple and considerate.

So nice of you to think of this. It's a great idea for slowing the spread. Be sure to implement it as soon as possible. You first! \:D/

Tip to the 'itchy face' mask wearers. Practice wearing it at home or put it on while you are in the car driving to your destination. I found that after about 3 or 4 days, the discomfort and irritation dissipates and there's hardly any touching. Sometimes nowadays, I even forget to take it off!

I took a trip out yesturday to my local non essential tyre shop , to get a new non essential battery for my aging non essential SUV , which is my bestest toy ever . Ive coached into life for the last 3 weeks , but finally it just died .
I noticed that all the older fitters were wearing masks , yet the younger ones were not .
Asked the boss why . He said he could not get them to wear one , although providing them to his staff free .
This is what we are up against , the wishy washy government guidelines just dont help in this situation .

Exactly may point .. unclear guidelines are not helping (as with the booze ban) ..

Tire shop boss .. week kneed should force them to wear of be laid off without pay .. or sack em...no labour office dispute or tribunal required.

My master mechanic mate in the UK has observed the same lack of care from the younger guys at his essential-service truck garage (they do fire trucks, garbage trucks and Tesco delivery lorries among other stuff). He talked with his boss and they've implemented a system where the persistent mask avoiders find themselves classed as not so essential and told not to come in and now have a reduced work (reduced pay) roster. My mate only takes Sunday off, even before this virus so he's busier than before but they feel a bit more safe too.

Another case of where the traditional, cultural Thai chestnut of "up to you" applies?

In this instance, it will be the death of (some of) them.
