Wonder if the tourism industry will follow the Cyprus example and offer free food/acomm/medical exps to all tourists who get CV19 whilst on holiday here?

Complete End to Lockdown on July 1

State of emergency likely to end June 30

The government has set July 1 for the lift of all business and activity lockdowns ordered earlier to cope with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), said the National Security Council chief.

These include interprovincial and international travel, as well as the end of emergency decree and curfew.

NSC secretary-general Gen Somsak Rungsita said on Thursday that the lift of restrictions would be a complete reopening of the country. Officials would next month prepare measures for the reopening.

"Authorities will have serious discussions because after the emergency decree ends, other laws will be used instead," he said.

"People's cooperation is important. This concerns the use of face masks, social distancing, hand wash and limited activities. As long as the disease is spreading worldwide, we will have to fight against it for a while."

Gen Somsak said the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations would end in June and the ban on international travel would continue until then.

The full reopening will come after the third phase of the relaxation to take place in June.

The government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will on Friday finalise details on what businesses could resume and on what conditions under the third phase of relaxation in June.

On Wednesday, his committee on business easing did not reach a conclusion on high-risk activities that were suspended and seriously affected the economy, he said.

For next month, Gen Somsak said that curfew hours would be further shortened and more restrictions on inter-provincial travel would be lifted under the third phase.

CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesil Visanuyothin on Thursday said more activities at malls would resume and athletes' practicing grounds would reopen.

Operators and customers would be required to use Thai Chana mobile application for checking in and out of premises since the businesses allowed to reopen in this stage are medium- to high-risk ones.

Prime Minister's Office Minister Tewan Liptapallop said movie theatres would not reopen because operators said there was no new movie during this time.

"It is not because we oppose the reopening, but operators say there are no new films to screen at the moment," he said.

He also said the government was considering financial aid for temples where all activities stopped including donations from the public.

Personally, I don't think that it's quite that simple. They're not just going to throw open the doors. I'm left with the feeling that there's more to this story. A couple of things to keep in mind, IMO:

1. This is the current plan. As we all know, the "current plan" can be a moving target.

2. According to National Security Council Secretary-General Gen Somsak Rungsita, "...after the emergency decree ends, other laws will be used instead." Doesn't sound to me as though they're going back to business as usual.

3. "Prime Minister's Office Minister Tewan Liptapallop said movie theatres would not reopen because operators said there was no new movie during this time."

"It is not because we oppose the reopening, but operators say there are no new films to screen at the moment," according to Prime Minister's Office Minister Tewan Liptapallop. -- Really? No new movies have been released in the last, say, 60 days?

Same here UM, I am not convinced that it will happen so easily, all on the one day.

Everything the Thai Government has done so far has been phased in or deferred at the last moment.

Still we live in hope, that sanity will one day prevail [-o< [-o< [-o<

Well a couple of days ago they said that Phuket would not open to tourism till Quarter 4,so not many will be going there from July.
I can't see them throwing open the borders with Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia and Laos straight away either.
More likely they will concentrate on domestic tourism July/August for Thais and, hopefully, resident farangs and see how that goes.
Maybe some international flights from China allowed. South Korea has seen an increase in Covid cases since easing restrictions.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Authorities will have serious discussions because after the emergency decree ends, other laws will be used instead.”

So business as usual
a lot of double talk

The chief of Thailand’s National Security Council announced today that Thailand has set July 1 for the end of all “business and activity lockdowns” ordered to cope with the Covid-19 crisis, include provincial and international travel. The announcement also included the end of the Emergency Decree and curfews, Bangkok Post reports.

At this stage there has been no announcement on paperwork or restrictions that will be imposed on foreigners entering the Kingdom after July 1.

How can they open Land Borders with Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar & Malaysia.
Malaysia probably has the only true figures of 7629 cases with approx 1200 still active.
Laos 19 cases with 0 deaths and all recovered ???.
Cambodia 124 with no deaths???.
Myanmar 206 cases with 6 deaths ???.

We all know how many people come from Laos every weekend to do shopping in Udon.

Blooming heck those numbers look real suspect. Somewhat edges me to think if the Thai figures are accurate with regard to actual cause of death.

pretty sure the . NEW NORMAL along with its NEW LAWS will include something to cover gatherings ... thus no new political groups forming to challenge ..it could get messy.

Jon,
My wife is on the hospital networks.
She has said all along that the numbers are correct.

Not sure if everybody realizes this, but all young hospital professionals, doctors, nurses, paramedics, dentists etc, can only stay at one hospital for 4 years then move on.
So, all older hospital staff know people in hospitals all around the country.
They got their own social media networks, and they talk.
They all know what's going on and it seems good.

Remember the game we played as children?
Start a story at the beginning of a line "The Elephant is Pink , did you know?" and by the time it eached the end of the line maybe some 20 or 30 children, "The Enemey is approaching on a Red Bicycle."
Same with stories in the Military, Hospitals, Food Chains, Old Falangs, Young Falangs , in general people

Doodoo,
This is not the same.
It's not about telling stories.

When the official count is released every day, the hospital people know if it's true or not, coz they get em.
If the count is wrong, they all know and communicate straight away.

You can't hide sick people from them.
Sick people is their business and they know the truth.

And, too many people to be involved in a conspiracy cover up, way too many.

Not disputing the hospitals numbers ... but who collates all the daily numbers derived form the hospitals etc ?? .. deaths in outside , in rural villages , care homes (there are relatively few here compared to Western other countries).

I don't know that answer Jon.
If people are dying in Villages from Corona virus and don't tell anyone, then, yes that's a complete unknown, and will not show up on government figures.

All I know is if people have flu like symptoms, then they are, (mostly), going to the local hospital for a test.
That's when the hospital network tracks them.

No-one can know any more than that.
