IN Brief
Hotel squeeze
CHIANG MAI :Japanese are among foreign visitors coming to the Royal Flora
Ratchaphruek Expo who are troubled by the shortage of hotel accommodation in
Chiang Mai, the Japanese consul said yesterday.
Kazuhiro Anzai, Chiang Mai-based Japanese consul, said some Japanese travellers
could not find accommodation in the province where many hotels are expected to
be packed in the three months of the expo.
Hotel occupancy has shot up as the expo organisers are putting the final touches
to the event set to open on Nov 1.

Sounds like 3 months from Nov. through Jan.!This might be of interest to those thinking about a trip North during that time!
Anyone interested in a place to stay in Chaing Mai might want to check out the Ban Oripin . We stayed there last week and it is a pleasant oasis inside the city. Not a hostel but not expensive.
