In answer to your second question...Yes. It was always about 1:1 Falang/Thai fare.

The Wednesday (I think) was converted into a bit of an Italian style buffet.
Possibly not the best Italian available in town but always a reasonable selection & at a fair price.
Again Thai food also offered on those nights.

It represented VERY good value for money when Ae was formerly running it.
I believed that George upped the price though - not that I visited while he has been there...

Will she be reintroducing the Wednesday & Saturday value for money buffets do you know?? Or do I have to swing by next Saturday & ask myself?? :D :D
Bob and RW ... Ae confirmed that George is no longer involved in any way at the Kinneree and that things will be back to the old popular formula with the excellent buffet(s) as in the past . Dao n I were regular customers and the buffets offered exceptional value with a good mix of Western and Thai quality food ,,,always a good crowd mostly regulars and very friendly atmos .

From what Ae said many customers had contacted her and Thep reference the restaurant expressing their wish for them to open it again ...guess it worked .

Wonder what the new buffet price will be!
Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

It had a good reputation and Irish Alan used to publicise it a lot when he was in Thailand. Not sure what's happened recently as I didn't follow the story but it would be good to see it up and running again.

I have no comments reference the food, as rarely visit there to eat, however the business side of it, I do wonder at the way a Foreigner pays the asking price for the lease then for unexplained reasons soon closes , no refund of lease money and lo and behold the place reopens with the building owner again.

Now call me cynical but if the restaurant was so good, then why lease it to a foreigner in the first place and secondly one of the attractions so Iwas told by a previous incumbent in the condos above was the availability of good food on the doorstep so to speak .

Business wise somethings do not add up, but then as we have all seen before Foreigners and their money are soon parted, George may well still have foot in the door but as he was so enthusiastic when he opened his sudden demise cannot be purely down to costs, that I am sure is not the whole story......... .

You know that for a fact do you Paul??
As I have heard a very different version.

I would be careful about leaping to conclusions & publishing them on an open forum unless you are very sure indeed about the accuracy of the base information you are using to draw those conclusions... It could prove an expensive guess... :D

Kinnaree a Review NOT a promotion

Post by Drunk Monkey » February 2, 2014, 12:00 am

Went to the re opening of the Kinneree this evening ,,,most certainly back under the wing of K. Thep n Ae . This post is purely a review and nothing else .

Im sure there will be plenty of whinges about the TOTALLY FREE BUFFET as quite simply there were just too many customers for it to go off smoothly without the buffet trays running low ,, never seen so many people turn up to an event of this kind in Udon it was packed from 5pm onwards we left at 10pm , seemed like a mix of regulars , residents , balloon chasers and the added fact that many other venues were dry due to the elections etc ..., the second and third wave of food was delivered ...all excellent , the live music and singers were great including Dao and Amber ... a really nice evening .....tho i wouldnt wanna be doing the washing up !!

Buffets every Saturday from now on .

Of course, we'd love to have them here, Pompui. We've invited them several times, but no response. Any ideas?

Went last night to support the relaunch of the Saturday Night Buffet under the reins of Aey, who told me the Kinneree will have daily specials. Packed to the rafters, thanks to Dao and Amber for the entertainment, and the bonus of the stunning Chang and Singha Beer Girls.
