Any special places with Vegan dishes?

Something along these lines might do well in Udon:

There's one on the Posri Road opposite the Thai Esan market amost dead across the road from MG and another in the little soi opposite Rak Fan dentist.

My wife sells vegan desserts on the Posri Fresh market on the stall where she also sells pork satay 🤣
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

I can think of 5 and there are probably more. The food is inexpensive at these restaurants and the decor pretty basic.

If you go to Udon on google maps and enter ซิ้งซิงเจ, you'll see what I think is the largest one. My missus says it's the most expensive. If you search with อาหารเจ, the vegetarian restaurants come up. I'm not sure if they're vegan but I think they might be. Only once have I come across one with egg in a dish and that one has now closed.

Dose does vegetarian dishes during vegetarian festival. I'm guessing they have at least a few dishes throughout the year.

If your are strictly vegan then I suggest that you buy, prepare and cook your food yourself. You can never be 100% sure if you eat in restaurants as to ingredients, oils used etc. Issan food is largely vegetarian in my mind, as opposed to where I come from, but Issan food is one of the reasons that I chose to live here.

Enjoyed Maeya where one finds 4 full pages of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

The real term I should use is

WHOLE FOODS PLANT BASED

Thank you for providing this useful information. It is a pleasant surprise that the Maya restaurant, where I have dined before, offers a wide range of healthy choices as I now am limiting my diet to mostly vegetarian foods.

Whole Foods Plant Based options

Post by rct » February 28, 2020, 4:09 pm

At Dose Espresso the two of us made a big meal with
- Spicy thai mushroom salad
- teriyaki tofu
- kimchee
- mashed potatos
- brown rice

At "Madame Pahteh" (formerly called Coffee Pate) for breakfast had the salad Luamprabang (I call it Salad Thai Baan) without the egg, a huge tasty salad. Roti Shanghai as an extra side dish and tell them to skip the pork.

And while not charming enough for my friend, after his departure I always pig out at Sizzler salad bar, including among other, mixing quinoa or white beans with onions, red peppers, sunflower seeds, some balsamic etc. For 139 baht is a great veggie meal.

The Tops salad bar at Central is decent.

I thought we could find something at VT Namneung, but not really.

Maeya really was the best large selection of menu options we saw, sharing 4 dishes each time, bill around 400 baht.

In 18 days I lost 3 kgs eating whole foods plant based and not going hungry, so intend to keep going!
